UGH!!! Inconsiderate owner/manager! We've been here several times because the buffet has a wide variety of foods available so everyone can find something they like. We usually find everything... acceptable. The high ceilings mean it is never going to be a completely quiet meal, and any unhappy/crying children can be heard all across the restaurant. This visit was no exception in that department, but I feel the blame for crying children who are disturbing everyone's meal lies with the parents of the poor child, not the restaurant. Therefore, that is not the reason for this review. The "boss"/manager doing construction on furniture while we were trying to eat, is the main reason for this review!! We arrived at 8pm, and the hostess seated us immediately. The sushi was almost empty and several of the food selections were lacking, but they were closing in an hour so we didn't want to make a fuss. It was a little frustrating that it appeared as though the whole kitchen staff were out in the restaurant eating while the food on the bars was empty. HOWEVER, at 8:15, with no explanation whatsoever, two men started sliding tables and chairs out of the way beside near where we were seated. Then they proceeded to pick up one of the (roughly) 10 ft. booth seats and carry it out, passing directly by our table with bottom edge of the booth slightly higher than our food - then as they made a 90 degree turn to get out of our section, our table was grazed by one of then men's backsides. I wish I could say that was the worst of it! It appeared as though we had been seated in a construction zone! They began, not just taking apart, but making repairs on, several 4-person booths with hammers and drills. After 15 minutes of banging, drilling, and moving, it was obvious they were not going to stop, and with the noise level unbearable, we decided we were going to leave. Our waiter wasn't in sight, and he hadn't brought us our check, but he ran to the front with it when he realized we were leaving. I told the lady, who appeared to be in charge, we were leaving because of the noise and asked if she was the manager. She apologized and said, "No, he is.", pointing to the older of the two men who had been making all of the noise. I was so stunned, I just walked out, dodging the "manager's" truck because he backed it up right in front of the front doors! I'm...
Read moreGreat service and great Great Asian-American food! The ambiance and atmosphere is modern, relaxed. Some patrons may find the piped-in music a bit too repetitive, too modern. Personally, I think the music fits perfectly with the ambiance and enhances the overall experience. The sushi is on point, and, for me, one of the highlights of a Ichiban visit! It's always fresh, replenished quickly, and a varied selection is available. No waiting for your favorite sushi here, which I cannot say is true for many of Ichiban's competitors who often run out of my favorite choices and are slow to replenish. The food bars are clean with a wide variety of Asian, Asian-American inspired, and typical American standard fare (mostly for the kids) food that is fresh and hot! Replenishing your favorite selections may be slightly delayed at times, but, given the volume of business, the hustle of the staff, and the quality, variety of food that's offered, only the most selfish patron would complain. And to them I say; "Please, stay at home where you belong. You are not welcome in polite society." Speaking of your fellow patrons, my experience has always been positive. I have never had the displeasure of rowdy, over-the-top neighbors whose boistreous behavior belongs outside...in a field...far away from people trying to enjoy their lunch or dinner alone or with family and friends. Furthermore, never have I experienced overtly rude people who muscle their way ahead of you or others to a popular selection or display the inability to be polite and patient. Surely, the politeness and the hustle of the staff prevent some those behaviors from surfacing. Major kudos, therefore, to the Ichiban staff! You folks are the best! Lastly, the value, the 'bang for your buck' if you will, is very reasonable. Factoring in all of the before mentioned qualities of polite staff and fellow patrons, staff that hustles and rarely looses focus on service, quick replenishment of popular selections, the high quality of food and proper temperature, the sheer variety of selections offered, and a pleasant, relaxed ambiance and atmosphere, Ichiban's is a glowing 5 star restaurant for it's class. So, for me, the value is excellent! You do get what you pay for. I patronize Ichiban often and plan on doing so for many years to come! Great job,...
Read moreIf you can make it during lunch hours, this place is definitely worth it. I haven't tried any food here I'd normally eat at a Chinese buffet that I didn't like. The staff are wonderful, and they make sure your drinks don't empty too often if at all, or they have all times I've been there. The one thing I'm bothered by is the weekend dinner price. For two people to eat and have something other than water, I believe it would cost around $50. I could take that money to Table 100, get a very filling, delicious burger for myself and something not too expensive for the wife, share a dessert despite already being full, have sodas, and only ever so slightly skimp on tip if trying to stay just at or under that same amount. I'll say in their defense, people too often let eyes get too big for stomachs, even numerous times in one visit, at buffets, so a lot of food gets wasted, and the prices get hiked. However, as one pays at the end, to avoid hiking prices so much, I feel that could just charge the wasters by charging a fee/so many ounces over a certain amount of water food? Maybe that wouldn't be efficient... I don't know. I just know there must be a way to make Table 100 NOT look like a better VALUE than a CHINESE BUFFET. Again, though! The food is good, and the staff is great. If either of both of those were untrue, I'd deduct...
