Update: thank you for the owner response: this is the part of what they wrote:
. We also emphasize that tipping is a personal choice and should not affect the level of service provided. If this is the case, why did they charged me extra 25% of my bill? According the ome Of the staff that manager told them to band me from Eating there and just we can eat there that last time with my family, thay have to charged me addional 25% of the entire bill!!! Was i shocked?? You bet i did!!! I dont keep my reciept , therefore i dont have anything to give you!!! I was Told that i was about to get kick out??? For what??? What a lies that i never tip. May be i didnt Tip good one time Because service os bad!! I brought a lot of custoners in tye restaurant and i got thos treatment!!! I have a meeting, i take them to tye restaurant!!! I spoke so highly about the food but with the experienced i had, imstead of continue to bring people, i will diacourage them not to go and i will tell them that if you dont tip, next time you will dine in, you will get a surprise of additional 25% of your entire bill!!!! Otherwise as per as the manager order, he will banned you from eating there! Im The food industries, service and food os where the customers basing their tip!!! And yes my tip is double the tax of my food!!! So i tip!!! We also emphasize that tipping is a personal choice and should not affect the level of service provided. Love the restaurant and always come Here. Recently i had very bad experienced. I alwyas ordered same food and service was not good. The food is not same as before. Like wvery diner, if the service is good you tip the server! Well, they are not and the food is nit same. I always tip 15 percent except when service and food os bit not good. Their server lies that i never tip when i always do!!! Last time i came with my family, they charge me extra 25% of my bill with out saying anything to me and their excuse was because i never tip them!!! What a lies! Also if you order food to go, they will give you way less and the good that contains good veggies are now serve with no veggies. I feel they ate racist. U look around of the food everyone eats, they serve differently, some better and more and some gets not at good at all even you order same food. They will even tell you that their boss say that if you dont tip, you are not allowed to dine in to thwir restaurant. As much as we live to go there the bad experienced we had made us feel...
Read moreI really like the food at this restaurant. I’ve eaten here and gotten takeout several times. Szechuan Spice is in my top two Szechuan style restaurants in the Houston area. Looking for a Szechuan restaurant close to home, I stumbled on Szechuan Spice. I’m so happy I did.
The parking lot here seems to fill up quickly but there are usually a few spaces available. The ambiance inside is mostly quiet and very casual. The staff is polite and helpful whether I’m dining in or taking out.
The first dish I ever tried here was the Cumin Lamb after being introduced to it by a friend. This is a fantastic, flavorful dish and while very spicy, it doesn’t overwhelm or take away from the savory flavors of the lamb or vegetables . The cumin flavor is excellent and blends perfectly with the other spices.
Another spicy dish I recommend there is the Three Flavor Pepper Chicken. I wasn’t prepared for the flavor packed into this chicken! The crispy breading hiding the succulent, juicy chicken mixed with chili’s and peppercorns was amazing! The portion size is incredible as well.
Not wanting to stop the spice journey, I’ve also indulged in several fish dishes. Boiled fish in Hot Sauce, Hot and Spicy Fish, Fish Jump Out of Water, Spicy Fish Fillet with Soft Tofu, Crispy Fish in Thai Chili. Holy Mackerel Batman!!! When it comes to fish, Szechuan Spice doesn’t miss! No jokes or riddles here. Cat Woman would love all the fishies here.
I really cannot decide what my favorite dish is. Cumin Lamb and Hot and Spicy Fish might be my top two but narrowly so. You cannot go wrong with anything I’ve recommended so far.
Egg rolls, Cheese Crab Puffs and Hot and Sour Soup are all good as well.
You may not expect to find some of the best Szechuan food in the Houston area in Pearland but you would be pleasantly surprised to find out you could be missing out. Don’t miss out! If you have no reason to come to Pearland, you have one now. Check this...
Read moreI had left a review before based on my previous experience. So, I thought I should give an updated review since they made a change after I left my previous review. I ordered the crispy pork steak and I must say, it was notably tastier this time around. I also tried their broccoli with beef and pepper steak, and both were very tasty with good portions. As a result, I've become a regular at this place. This is one of the best Chinese/Szechuan restaurant around here in Pearland, so I definitely would recommend this to anyone.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: I really want to give this place a great review because their food tastes so much better than the other Chinese restaurants nearby. Also, everyone who I’ve talked to on the phone whenever I place my order has been nice. This is my second time ordering from this place and I ordered mapo tofu and the crispy pork steak again. The first time I ordered the crispy pork steak, it was a little bland, not enough garlic. So when I ordered the second time I asked for the extra garlic. I was very appreciative because they delivered with the extra garlic and it was even tastier this time. But I was very disappointed when I saw some parts of the pork that were not cooked very well. I had to throw half of it away. There was too much breading and the meat inside didn’t cook well. The mapo tofu that I ordered was with the beef but there wasn’t enough beef on it. A LOT OF TOFU, but no beef. So I basically paid extra for nothing. I really wish they’ll do things differently this time and I’m willing to give it another try. This restaurant’s really got...
