I dont know how to accurately rate this visit. I was sooooo excited to learn this particular Steak & Shake was open for dine in. It has been over 2 years since I've had S&S and I was craving it so bad. I was in the area so my daughter and I decided to go. We were both giddy with excitement as we pulled into the parking lot. Walked in, and I thought I was walking into McDonald's, only in red, black, and white. Order off of a kiosk, wait till your order is called, pick it up off a tray....plastic utensils....no condiments on the tables....when you go up to ask for condiments or utensils, you have to practically go into the kitchen itself to find someone. I was absolutely put off by this. This is not the Steak & Shake I've known my entire life, I'm 42. I completely understand the covid situation but other restaurants have normal activity, waiters & waitresses...I just do not see this working for Steak & Shake. The whole atmosphere of the place was wrong and felt almost sad. Also, I was told I couldn't get a cherry coke. Half the reason I've always gone to S&S is the cherry cokes. If I wanted to get my own drink, I would go to McDonald's. Also, no salads. I loved Steak & Shakes 1000 Island dressing. It was unique. So much so that my Mom used to go in once a month a buy a bag of it so we could have it at home for salads. On a positive note....the food was great. My Chilli Mac and onion rings were hot and delicious. My daughter said her chicken fingers were awesome. The chocolate shakes were perfect!!! Sitting at the tables you always get to hear the “latest” employee gossip and it’s EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL from my customer standpoint. There’s always someone making a big scene exit as they quit and then that follows with staff expressing their views on the matter out loud trying to include the customers on how horrible that said person was. Again VERY EMBARRASSING for a company to have employees with that attitude. Also don’t be surprised if you catch them on a day where you end up waiting 10-15m in the drive through to get your order just to realize they got your order WRONG as you get home etc. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BAG BEFORE YOU GO! Even if they try to rush you to keep there times down! They didn’t care when you had to wait for 15 minutes so they can wait another 30 seconds! Also waiters count tips in view of customers and other staff, gossip at the drink station, MANAGEMENTS IS RUDE and inconsiderate to employees. Store is always short handed and have heard the STORE MANAGER herself (LEANN) CURSE at an employee who was attempting his big “quitting exit” which again has got to be THEE most embarrassing, degrading, unprofessional excuse of a manager I’ve to this day ever seen! Read moreFirst time I went here me, and my friend spent around $25. The lady wearing glasses that took our order misheard my friend, and he made a joke about it. She intentionally cooked our food terribly. The patties were misshapen, fries were dry, and milkshake was like flavored milk. We ordered three meals in total, and only received one fountain drink. When we asked about it in the drive thu window, she had a attitude. She didn't put the drinks in the order. I hope she has been retrained to better serve customers, or fired. As she gave a horrible first impression.
After we got home we began to eat our meals, only to be dissapointed. We called the resturaunt to complain to the manager. She acted swiftly, and aptly. She told us the next time we came, our same ordered will be replaced free of charge. Our order was fixed, and our experience was made better. When we came back, we were very satisfied. The burgers were neat, and tasty. The fries were fresh, and hot. The milkshake was whipped nicely, and thick. We also received extra fries, cup of chili, and two cookies.
