We love Firebirds in Orlando, where we live, and go specifically for the 10 oz cut of the prime rib. So, while visiting Pembroke Pines, we decided to go since we were driving in late and just wanted comfort food. The server was very attentive and friendly and one of the things I liked about her is that when we sat down I pointed out that we had just driven four hours and so we were really hungry and tired. So she took our appetizer and drink orders immediately and quickly got our order of ranch onion rings out to us which were delicious after a long, traffic-filled drive from Orlando. She had also asked us if we wanted the loaf of hot, fresh-baked bread, so she had that in the oven and to us ASAP! The prime rib was just as delicious as the Orlando (Mills Ave.) location, and so was the fully loaded baked potatoes, which my wife and I think are the best restaurant-served version we’ve had. My wife had a nice glass of red wine, 8 oz, that was providing so quickly-awesome! We both had a great time. My only comments to the restaurant: 1.) Most payment barcodes on receipts when we cash our take Apple Pay. I had to physically type in my name, credit card number etc., in order to check out with the receipt barcode-this needs severe improvement! It needs to take auto fill info off an iPhone and also accept Apple Pay. Since the site the barcode brings one to, using iPhone’s native Safari browser, won’t take auto fill info for some reason, it wouldn’t even accept the auto fill credit cards from my Apple Wallet, very annoying having to get the card out and type everything in. So in summary this is the first system I have ever seen like this, so I don’t know if it’s different than the one in Orlando, because I don’t remember having to do this, but regardless every other restaurant I’ve ever been to just does Apple Pay and it’s very easy to you so please work on this. 2.) The place we are seated was next to the kitchen in the furthest most booths to there. There is a Bar that runs the length of the booths facing the kitchen, which is attached to the booths, and is about 2-2.5 feet wide. The entire dinner, and I’ll include photos, staff leaned over this bar, and were all a sudden practically in our booth having dinner with us - this happened the entire meal and made us uncomfortable. One employee serenaded us with his whistling (In fairness he was just minding his business whistling doing his job, but he didn’t realize that because he was leaning over the bar, he was next to our table directly and the whistling was coming right into our booth). Management needs to stop the practice of servers using this bar to write on their checks (we experienced that), lean over it and talk to other servers (same), hang out there, etc. The funny thing was they all came to that one spot I assume our booth is in the center of the line of booths and it is directly across across from what appears to be where the servers communicate with the kitchen window. My point is that despite there being an empty table directly behind us and in front of our booth so on both sides it’s empty, they decided to hang out on the bar next to our table which was obviously occupied with us so they could’ve picked other booths to lean over but did not so this is clearly a habit. The management needs to fix this ASAP this is weird and makes dinner experience uncomfortable. But I’m not taking any stars off for that reason, because that’s something that can be fixed with training, and everything else that we experienced...
Read moreMy original review was an unpleasant one BUT after speaking with corporate I definitely noticed a difference in the customer service and quality drinks. I ordered the exact same menu items on two separate occasions to compare the quality and consistency. I also wanted to experience having different servers to compare the consistency in training. My initial return to the restaurant, I walked into the restaurant and immediately was welcomed by Samantha (a manager) and the hosts, they offered to follow me to wherever I wanted to sit. I chose a table in the patio area and the host brought my menu and stated that the server will be right with me. Anthony approached my table a few minutes late with his trainee. Both were professionally dressed and presented themselves professionally. I ordered my drink and food and he went on his way. It seemed a little bit before my alcoholic beverage but it was acceptable because he was also training a new server. The bartender came to shake my alcoholic beverage and said she was helping him out. I really appreciate the teamwork as I believe this is was makes a restaurant successful. When the food came out it was fresh and the shrimp was just the right temperature as this can be challenging in some restaurants. Anthony immediately came over. He saw I was in the middle of a business call and made his presence known then kept walking. Very important strategy not to interrupt but allow the guest to know that he is on stand by just in case. My overall return experience excelled the original experience. The following visit I walked into the restaurant and notice 3 male hosts but no manager. They were engaged in conversation slouching over the host stand. Not as keen as the initial return but they were pleasant none the less. I was seated in the patio once again but this time my server was Mary. She was professionally dressed and presented herself professionally as well. I ordered the same alcoholic beverage only Mary shook it herself and placed it on the table. There was a slight difference though. My first visit I didn't receive bread and butter but this visit I received bread and butter. Not a big deal for me but I'm not sure if this is a big deal for the company so I have to mention. Moving forward, the shrimp came out once again the same; the right temperature and fresh. Overall my experience at this restaurant has been a turnaround experience. Corporate really took the review and used it to properly train their staff and I feel like a valued guest at...
Read moreMy son took us to this place to celebrate Mother's Day. He reserved a table for us and upon arriving we met with the person manning the front podium. We waited about 10mns for our table to be ready. The place wasn't that overly busy and I think they didn't have enough staff and thats why our table wasnt ready. When we sat down we waited another 10 mins to be visited by our waitress. We don't know her name because she never offered it. But she is small in height, dark complexion, with very large eye lashes, black hair being held in a bun in the back. She talked so low it was hard hearing her. We ordered everything all at once, (drinks, appetizer and main course) because we didn't know if we would ever see her again. True enough the meal came, served by someone else and only for two of us. The $30.00 steak and fries that my son ordered was served cold. My wife's shrimp and grits which was served with a brownish sauce was very greasy . The third dish, a simple cheese burger was served several minutes later. The drinks came next which our original waitress served and poured. I asked for ketchup and she brought back a thimble silver in color tin, which was half full of ketchup. This was suppose to be shared between two of us (I don't think so). The cheese burger I was served was completely raw on the inside. I couldn't eat it. Thank god the manager came by and asked how everything was going, and I told him. He took one look at my cheese burger and agreed it was completely raw and took it back. I guess he said something to our waitress because that's when she came back to our table, and inquired why I had sent the meal back! I told her and she kind of smirked, I also took the opportunity to remind her that we were still missing a Dr. Pepper and water for the three of us. She left and came back later with the water and Dr. Pepper. After a few minutes the manager himself came back to our table and served me with a new cheese burger with all the trimmings i.e. ketchup, mustard, mayo etc...Thank you Mr. Manager. The French fries were also served on the side on its own plate which is a complete opposite how it was originally served all on the same small plate of the cheese burger. Needless to say we were not very happy with the service, food presentation and how it was prepared. This place and experience was not worth the price or the 20% tip...
