I'm so bummed! We've been to this establishment a few times and the food and atmosphere is so awesome and inviting that it will keep us coming back. We went in this morning (sunday) for the brunch, we were greeted by a lady who wasn't really friendly at all. She didn't really engage in any conversation as she said " come this way' ... we sat down and didn't really think anything of it. Another lady brought us a glass of water daily quickly, so we looked at the menu and had a short conversation between ourselves while we waited for our server to come back and take our drink order. We sat there for 30 minutes and finally made the decision to wave our server over to take our order, at that point it was either do that or get up and leave.. She stood over in the corner and looked at our table and made her way over to every other table around us, without even so much as a " ill be right with you" Anyway, she finally made her way to our table per our request, we put in our drink order and ordered our food. A short while later the food came out and the eggs were a little over hard when I had asked for over easy, I noticed right away... my wife said something about it and she started to school my wife on how to cook a egg! Mind you we still haven't gotten our drinks... Roughly 10 min later she came out with a small plate with some almost over hard eggs and flopped them on to our table after she made me rearrange everything....
About 5 min later our drinks came out and all was good...
We finished most of our breakfast and my wife got up to use the restroom and asked me to get a small container for her leftovers. I waited for the server to come over and I told her that o would like a container for her food and she looked at me with a smug face and said are you sure you don't want to wait for her to decide that? I said No I'm pretty sure she wants one!
I'm really bummed because the food is Awesome and the atmosphere is the coolest ever. However, the server we had will keep us from staying when we come back in! We will just turn...
Read moreWhat an atmosphere! I can't express how good our first experience was at the Flying X Speakeasy Lounge. Markus was a phenomenal server, the cocktails were perfect, and the food was, dare I say it, the best in Pendleton? I'm a bit of a ribeye connoisseur so I've tasted Hamleys, The Plateau, Cimmiyotti's, and even Walla Walla Steakhouse Company. After my dining experience at the Speakeasy, I would put them right at the top with Cimmiyotti's for best ribeye. My wife loved her meal as well. She is gluten free and their GF noodles were delicious. Also, the stuffed mushroom appetizer was a great starter! I heard some reviews early on when the restaurant first opened that they hadn't quite figured out their menu, but I think that rumor can be laid to rest at this point. Markus had great music playing to create a fun and cool atmosphere. I've been to some great restaurants/bars in Nashville and there is no doubt The Speakeasy would be a popular spot even in The Music City...and we are blessed enough to have it right here in Pendleton, OR! I was absolutely shook at how impressed I was and that it took me way to long to visit. My wife and I will be back soon and often. It'll be a BIG mistake if Pendleton doesn't support this business well. Tim and Markus have created something very special. Make your reservation...
Read moreQuality really depends on who is the cook that night. When it's good it's great, when it's not it can be borderline inedible.
reply to owner: We ate there Wednesday eve, my most adventurous eating companion had the Cacio E Pepe and described it as a "1/4 cup of black pepper" and completely inedible, she had to leave early due to an emergency (yes that one), so there was no redress. While my extremely picky wife had the same meal 2 weeks ago on a Friday and thought it was good and balanced. Wednesday my wife had the Fettuccine Alfredo and found it was oddly rich and not as expected and a somehow unbalanced mix of cheese. She didn't say anything she doesn't like to make a fuss as she is a "supertaster" and sometimes she just tastes things differently, but trying some myself I would completely agree with her assessment. I had the Rigatoni A La Vodka and thought it was good.
We also came across another couple, one of which said her dish was too spicy to eat, I assumed at the time it was the Fra Diavolo but at this point I don't know. I believe she mentioned it to their server. I do not know that outcome, but she tried to warn us.
I do hope these are worked out. Have more verity in this town is certainly...
