I use to enjoying coming down to this restaurant as the food is good and I like to sit outside with my pigeon. She is well behaved and always on a leash. Never bothering anyone.
This particular day an older man came out as I was sitting outside with my husband and pigeon on my shoulder and he asked if that was a bird. I replied yes, she is a pigeon. He then went on this long tirade about how I need mental health services, how he use to be a cop.... I asked him to leave muiltple times, and it wasn't until we threatened calling the cops did he finally walk away.
When I brought this up with the woman by the coffee, she basically blew me off, told me yeah that's how he is, he had a head injury and that my bird was not allowed inside the establishment.
I walk back out to my table to wait for my smoothie, I spoke to another employee and she was much much more understanding and caring. She had also mentioned this older man has cause issues with other guests! Which is crazy to me any establishment would allow one person to harass muiltple other customers.
I felt very unheard by the original woman making coffees, I do not think that was the proper response. I no longer feel welcome, and will not be returning. Not a safe place!
Edit: since the owner has once again defended this "quirky regular" for harassing me I am changing everything to one star. Dogs are always inside but now my bird poses a health risk (we always sit outside anyways). Good to know harassment, being rude, bothering customers he doesn't know is just being quirky and will be allowed. I will never come back to this establishment, I was a regular too. How...
Read moreAs a former employee, I can attest to the cleanliness and care that all of the staff exercises. If I could only say ONE thing about this place, it’s that you can rest easy knowing that everything is clean, and they can pass an inspection on a moments notice with flying colors.
Fortunately, I have space here to say much more than one thing. Even if I never worked there, I’d still give 5 stars. It’s cozy. Food is yummy with fresh ingredients. Cocktails are consistent and better quality than you’ll find anywhere else in town. Staff is always friendly and down to earth, and they really get to know their customers. The owners are accepting of people of all creeds, which is important for me; I like to spend my money on people and things that I believe in, and GP is one of them. The building is gorgeous, and the atmosphere is very comfortable.
They have a lot of gluten free options and take extra care for those with sensitivities. They also have several vegetarian options, which is appreciated. The only negative thing I have to say at all is that vegan options are definitely lacking. In this community, I’ve gotten use to that, but it would be appreciated if they added more vegan options. Fortunately, customization is not only accepted, but encouraged, so whatever your needs or preferences are, they’ve got...
Read moreAte here, solo, March 2024. Place was pretty busy. Wait staff was pleasant and helpful; nice people. The prevailing atmosphere is genteel sterility, the clientele mostly older women drinking cool wines (such as a white zinfandel or beaujolais). I had a milk stout and a Reuben with a side of bean salad. The stout was excellent. The Reuben was disappointing; two very dry slices of toast hosting a goodly helping of corned beef with a wee bit of sauerkraut and an even smaller bit of dressing. The ingredients were of high quality and I admit the chef is entirely within his rights to make a sterile dry Reuben, but I didn't care for it. I like my Reubens messy and saucy, with bits leaking out the sides and a solid need for napkins. This was more like an architectural drawing of a Reuben. The bean salad was similar; dry and sterile. No sauce, no spices, and not a drop of liquid. Would I come here again? Doubtful. I prefer my dinners extroverted, loud and messy, even a bit inconvenient. And there are many more restaurants still to try in Pendleton. But if you like a bit of white zinfandel during your book group meeting, the Great Pacific might be the...
