Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Penn Hills

I would give zero stars if possible after my visit this evening. Never in my life have I seen an employee behave in such an unprofessional and unreasonable manor. After yelling at a group of a dozen children because they were too excited while waiting in line (mind you, they were behaving as normal children who were happy to be at Rita's do), "K.A." (only initials on their name tag), began to yell at one of the adults who politely asked them not to yell at children. Even after the adult refused to engage with them any further, the employee continued to stand at the window and make inappropriate comments. He also refused to serve any of the children (or those of us waiting in line behind them), leaving only one other employee with a line full of people stretching off the deck. As the other employee served the group, K.A. continued to make faces (no exaggeration, they were sticking their tongue out like a child does) and use profanity right in front of the window. This lasted for at least 15 minutes, while the only other employee (kudos to her) continued to serve the group, and eventually the rest of us behind them. Again, the adult he had an issue with, was not even engaging with them at this point. It was truly bizarre.

This behavior was absurd and in no way okay for CHILDREN to have to witness. This location will never again get a dime from me. I'd advise everyone else in the community to stay...

Rita's has always been a favorite of mine, this location is no exception. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the hours are decent, though I wish it was open earlier than 12PM. The custard was great both times I've went and I had a good experience both times, would definitely recommend Rita's in general to anybody! The only down side to this location is the slightly limited ice and custard flavor options they had available compared to other locations such as Squirrel Hill's. This particular Rita’s is absolutely horrible first of all when buying this expensive custard you are paying for the ounces of the cup they actually are cheating customers out of money because they’re told to only fill the cups with 4swirls of custard and not filling the cups to the ounces that are paid for that’s the same thing McDonald’s got sued for so if anyone still chooses to patronize this establishment make sure you make them fill the cups up to what you...
