This was honestly a really disappointing experience. We came here for the pizza part (Dieci) and the build your own was expensive. The base for a pizza with cheese and sauce is $20, and every topping is +$2. All we got were veggies on top of a plain cheese pizza and with the tip, ended up spending $35. That wouldn't be such an issue if we didn't run into issues with service. I want to say that the girl with glasses working the host stand/ to gos was phenomenal. She was genuinely nice and attentive, offered to help us navigate the menu, and never made us feel unwelcome. We decided to sit at the bar while we waited for the pizza. We wanted to have a beer while we waited. The first bartender who came over to us wasn't rude per se, but she did seem like she was in a hurry to get us out of there. The second person, I think Alston (tall man tattooed arms) was his name could not even pretend to be nice. When we asked about the beer menu, he just pointed to the wall above the host stand, and when my partner said that didn't really explain the difference in the draft selection, he got really annoyed with us and just started reading the names without really saying what they were. I didn't want a drink at first because of his attitude, but eventually decided to try one. He kept walking past me and making eye contact, and I had my ID in hand to make it more obvious I wanted to order. He ignored that and eventually just shouted to us that "it'll be (X amount) for that beer," and didn't bother to see if we needed anything else. We settled the tab and waited for our pizza. When we finally got back home, the crust was very burnt and the pizza barely had any of the mushrooms or black olives on it that we ordered. I wish I could insert the pictures of the pizza here but it won't let me. With how expensive the pizza was vs. the quality we received, and the extremely rude service from the bar, we won't come back.
edit: Added a picture of our pizza under the...
Read moreWhen it was announced that Bavaria would be opening in downtown Pensacola I could not contain my excitement... but would it be authentic and good German food. The best I'd had to date was Helga's in Niceville, FL, but that was sold to new owners and one of the first things they did was to replace the nice folding cloth menus with laminated "iHop" style menus so the food certainly would not be good and I chose not to go back. We showed up at Bavaria and were pleasantly surprised with the layout and food. Beautiful scenes of Bavaria being shown on the large screen TV at the bar and TV's over the door and front window area were edge to edge and nice. We ordered Heffe Weiz and Pilsner beers and we both commented on how good they were (mine was the Weihenstephan - the oldest brewery in the world still brewing beer under the German purity law. They have records as far back as 1410 and have been my favorite beer from the day I tried them). We started with the potato pancake appetizer with apple sauce and white sauce. Then I realized that they were so good that they might be the same as they were at Helga's... we later found out that the chef was from Helga's, which made me even more excited. I had the Jagerschitzel with a few wedges of fresh small tomato and a few fresh slices of cucumber on the side. Fresh and small garnishment... delicious. The Jagershnitzel was wonderful, along with my sides of Spaetzle, Red (Rot) Cabbage and Potato Salad. This potato salad was with clear vinegar sauce, which I loved. Finally, we had the last piece of Apple Strudel with smooth ice cream in the store... good timing! It was also wonderful! So excited to go back. Great German food is so hard to find. We recently ate at a huge German haus in Buffalo New York, which I thought was not as good as Bavaria! Welcome to Pensacola, Bavaria! Wish you the best and hope you are here for years to come! For my...
Read moreThis place is super excellent! It took me back to my years of living in Germany back in the '80s. We were greeted on entering the establishment by very friendly Hostess and the person who seated us gave us a quick explanation of all the beers that they have on tap which is extensive by the way. I found a beer that was just like what I would drink when I was in Germany. Our server, Lauren, was very friendly and took excellent care of us! The food is out of this world, I had the Jaegerschnitzel and my wife had the Nuremberger. But we started with one of the "big" pretzels and a beer each. Then came the main course, which was plenty for each of us. Then came dessert. I got apple strudel, my wife got the salted caramel cheesecake. And 2 more beers to top off the night. When the check came, we got a military discount since I'm a Veteran and we had talked about my time being stationed in Germany. This whole experience took me right back there, it was great. Now, about the price, I marked $100 plus however we went a bit crazy on our meal. We had gotten a pretzel and the main course and dessert and two beers but then we got to go boxes and each one took half of our main course home along with ordering another big pretzel to take home to have another meal another night. So you could probably eat here just fine have a couple of beers which were amazingly only $5 and get away with somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 to $25 per person conservatively and not walk...
