Order: Angelino (Iced coffee w milk, and vanilla), Cappuccino Pros: Free item with purchase of a pound of coffee, syrups are made in house, several cool drink combinations Cons: They donāt roast their own beans and the roast is a little darker than I like
Thoughts: Another coffee stop on our way to New Orleans and it was defiantly one of the more āuniqueā shops. After looking around we figured out that it was part of a āBodaciousā set of stores (olive oil, restaurant, and coffee shop). They covered a variety of different drinks that were very unique in their combinations of flavors or serving methods. We settled on one of our staples, the cappuccino, and one of their specialty drinks, the Angelino. While we were ordering they told us you get a free drink with each pound of coffee ordered so we immediately decided to pick up two pounds of coffee.
While waiting we started looking into the coffee they use and it turns out that it is not roasted on site/ The drinks came out pretty good but the roast on the beans was darker than I prefer, and led to just a hint of a charred flavor. It was also clear that the barristerās werenāt super informed on all their different drinks and brewing methods. The Angelino was pretty good and Iād probably recommend sticking with their specialty offerings rather than order the āstandardā coffee drinks. I feel like the quality of their bean stands out more in their black coffee and core espresso drinks.
Overall it was a good place to stop and grab coffee but it lacked the artistry and dedication to really be a coffee lovers go to place. Iād definitely get coffee from there if I happened to be nearby but wouldnāt go too far out of my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have now given up on the Olive. Food is great, service poor. Used to get lunch twice a week or more. Always call ahead to avoid the line and wait. The wait is typically very long, even if not busy. None of the kids working behind the counter have a sense of urgency. None. Tried calling 4 days in the last 2 weeks and phone is never answered, then goes to multiple please continue holding messages and then finally a mailbox that is full. And I called over and over for over an hour each time. Today magically someone answered. Easy order, Turkey Club Wrap. Asked for the pickle on the side since the last 2 times it was left out. Guess what...no pickle. And no thank you when picking up the order. Literally walked up, interrupting 2 associates talking to each other. Girl looked at me and I said pick up order. She tapped the screen and said, here hit this and walked off to get my order. Hit this? The "Tip Us" screen. No thanks, you have to at least smile to have a chance of a tip. Better yet, get rid of that silly screen and pay your folks more so you can attract quality associates that smile and work faster. She handed me my order with out a word. Really stinks because the food is very good at the Olive. Having eaten at the Olive for over a year, I have yet to be "Wow'd" even one time. Super slow, orders wrong often, no one having fun that works there. And trying to find a seat anywhere near lunch is impossible due to people camping out with laptops, which is why I started getting my lunch to go. Guess I am now hitting the Taco cart more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI filled out the survey on the receipt and heard nothing back so I'm leaving this review in hopes that changes are made. This establishment has the potential of becoming a 5 star cafe; however, the practice of UPCHARGING a full dollar for a few tablespoons of oat milk is absolutely ridiculous, given the fact that plant based milk alternatives are far more economical than COWs milk (Unless of course you're sourcing cheap bottom of the barrel cow's milk - then that says something else altogether that should be addressed as well). $5.64 for a small 4" high cup that was filled barely 3/4 of the way up and was room temperature near cold is another issue as well. Upon further inspection their was also a "pink hue" in the "foam" on top of the cappuccino - I have NO idea what that was caused by but coffee shouldn't be PINK. I still left a $2 tip for the barista - because I did not want to place fault on the people that work there, I blame the oat milk upcharge on the choice of the owners that feel justified UPCHARGING for something that is common place in the 21st century, and I fault the owners for not training their people right on how to make a...
