New Hong Kong House” is the next new restaurant to open where Shark Fin used to be on Davis Hwy. They just keep coming and going over there! Boy is this Chinese sit-down restaurant all over the place. I’ll start out by saying that ultimately, the food was really good. I read their reviews before we went so I expected some glitches. Yes, the menu is difficult to understand. I hope it is true there will be a new more orderly menu with more detailed descriptions. I also hope more items will be added to the menu. First, the soup and egg rolls, which were delicious by the way, came out right before our entrees. We barely had time to eat anything. Speaking of entrees, they are HUGE. Keep that in mind. Unless you can eat enough for 2 or 3 people, they are meant for sharing. Sadly, the fried rice was not very good, and barely warm. We ordered Kung Po Chicken and Mongolian Beef. Both were excellent, although many of the fried noodles they put under the beef were inedible dried sticks. I love fried rice-noodles so this was disappointing. BUT, the Mongolian Beef itself was freshly cooked, and outstanding! Another thing I noticed was that, although the vegetables and the chicken were cooked to perfection, it was not hot - it was warm. It still tasted great, but food temperature is important-sometimes critically. Otherwise the service was good, the people were friendly, and I am SO happy we have a sit-down Chinese restaurant! Oh and they do have a separate, dim sum menu. More descriptions of the dim sum items would be nice. Okay, so--New Hong Kong House needs to put more items on the menu, make it easier to order by fixing the menu, make better fried rice, and slow down and let us eat our appetizers first. I’d recommend it, and I will be back. I definitely want to try the duck. I just hope they can work out the post-opening...
Read moreServer was attentive. My dining partner ordered all apps and soup. She said egg drop soup was ok , we both though the egg rolls ok. The cheese wonton was soggy in parts and crunchy in other parts but had a good flavor. Dining parter did not like the potstickers. I did not try but noticed the outer part looked very wet and had the consistency of dumplings. I ordered sesame chicken with fried rice and it was delicious! The sauce on the chicken ( and on the plate was very tasty ) , fried rice good as well. I shared my entree with my dining parter so they would have something more to eat since they didn’t eat the potstickers ( only one). She liked it as well and made the comment that she would come back but order an entree but not apps. I feel the same. The dinner came up to $ 45 before tip. The apps were inexpensive ( $4.99 each) and the seaweed chicken was $18.50. Which I though was a little high but I ate and she ate some and still have enough for another meal with about half the rice leftover as well. So the large portion and the delicious defiantly made up for the price. There was about 4 other tables and couldn’t help but noticed that their doors looked delicious s well. Will be back. Update: Back again. This time I ordered a lunch special which was only $12.50 . I ordered a bento box which came with your choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup. I chose the hot and sour soup. I’m not a big soup person when a salad is offered I will choose the salad over soup every time. The soup was sooo delicious! It contained a lot of mushrooms and tasted very fresh. I chose the sesame chicken bento box. You have your choice of white of fried rice. It also contained an egg roll, a dumpling , sauce for dipping, and kimchi. Delicious! I even had enough...
Read moreI was here with my boyfriend and I never really ever review places but after what occurred at my dining experience, I found it necessary to write one. I came here to enjoy some food after a workout and we were greeted with an extremely nice lady, named Valeena who goes by Val. She was a sweet and amazing server. She came by to take our orders, but my boyfriend decided to order for me, which I prefer. A few moments after my boyfriend had ordered, another worker came by sweeping and whispered into my boyfriend's ear. He said "Let her talk man." I had no idea that this worker said this to him. I was completely unaware but I noticed my boyfriend's body language had changed instantly. After receiving my food, I noticed this worker go to another table and grab a customer's personal item without asking. Mind you there were two very young boys at this table. That alone made me uncomfortable and after the story my boyfriend told me whilst at the table I became very uncomfortable and wanted to leave. Again, I don't normally write reviews but I found this one necessary. This worker was tall, had a tattoo on his left arm, and had a white beard and was clearly of older age. I personally think that this man should be "let go." I never would expect a person at their job to be as unprofessional as he was. I hope whoever reads this finds this well. I mean no harm at all. I just want to write a review making it clear that his actions were completely unprofessional and uncalled for. I truly love this restaurant as they serve absolutely delicious food and they do serve very much of it. You will always go home with leftovers. My server Valeena was an absolute gem and she is a great server. Thank you for...
