Good. Changes a lot, some days I will get more for my dollar and some days ill get less when I order the same thing. It is a gamble, depending who’s working. Also, there are free crunchy breadstick things. Very cool. I have tried most things on the menu, so here is my least favorite and my favorite things in every category. Salad: The shrimp and avocado salad is not worth the money as the highest priced salad on the menu. Not enough to justify it, and the dressing is weird. The Southern salad is the greatest because it is the second cheapest salad on the menu and has a lump of chicken salad that tastes pretty okay. You can ask for an extra lump of chicken salad for about $3.50, which trumps all other additional additional proteins in price and grams of protein. Sandwiches: Chicken pesto is my least favorite. It wouldve been nicer if it wasn’t so dry. : ( The newks Q is pretty good. It has bacon, what more can I say? Pizzas: I’m not normally a fan of pizzas, but I especially disliked the BBQ chicken pizza. It was sweet. Why was the pizza sweet. No. The Mediterranean pizza is pretty good. It has a lot of stuff on it, but this seems to be most affected by whoever is working there at the time. Sometimes its full of the tasty stuff, other times its 80% olives. Hit or miss, but still yummy.
Sides Soups: Their new cheese broccoli soup is not very good. Normally cheesey broccoli soup is pretty good, but this one was just mediocre at best. Very thick and very forgettable. The chicken tortilla soup has the most nutritional value in terms of protein, but the calories are pretty low. It is very fun to eat with sandwiches, it acts as a great compliment with good flavor and a bit of spiciness. Mac n cheeses: There are only two kinds of mac n cheeses: pimento and normal. I began eating here before pimento was added to the menu. Before then, just not too long ago, they would put their mac n cheese in these metal bowls, and it would always come out hot and the cheese would be all crispy on the sides. I don’t know why they got rid of this, but now it’s just plain bowls. The pimento sounds all fancy, but it really isn’t worth the extra money and calories. It is a let down. Its just a glorified plain mac n cheese with some bacon bits. Please make it fancier. Sides: This is relative. I cant rank sides. It depends on what you’re eating. Teas: Sorry, but I only ever drink sweet tea. Sweet tea is fine. Nothing to talk about here. They have a whole tub of splenda sweetened tea which is very thoughtful for those whose tummies do not like sugar. Additional proteins: I think it goes without saying that it is a horrible idea to buy a steak from a deli restaurant to put on your salad. Also, if you’re going to get additional shrimp, ask for it hot. Unless you like your shrimp cold, weirdo. The chicken sucks. Dry, and there’s barely any. Not worth the price at all! The salmon, although expensive, is honestly the tastiest option. You probably get more protein with this than anything else. Get the salmon. Desserts: I am not rating desserts because they make my tummy hurt. Thank you for reading my review. I hope this was helpful for your...
Read moreI'll open this up with stating that the food is good. My work has had Newks cater before. I came in to pick up lunch for my work colleagues and myself. Please keep in mind, this is during the lunch hour on Bayou Boulevard. It is pretty congested with the traffic. I order a Choose 2 (consisting of a sandwich and soup) along with an Ahi Tuna Salad. I recieve my meal and hit the road. I get about half way back to work before I decide to dig in on my lunch. That's when I notice that the salad is completely missing. At this point, I'm out on half of what was supposed to be my lunch (a half of a sandwich, because I was splitting with someone else and a salad). I call back, get in touch with the manager, she apologizes and asks of I can swing back around. That's a hard no; the traffic is too congested to be running back and forth and that parking lot is no dream to maneuver into either. She tentatively offers to have it delivered to my work but upon realizing just how far of a drive I took to even get there, offers the excuse that I am a tad far off. So, I can either force some sad soul to slosh through the midday lunch run to hand me ONE salad....or I can come by after work for a full repeat of the original order. I am still upset, but agree to make an extra stop on my way home. When I come in that evening, I give my name, order the ahi tuna salad again and ask for a different Choose 2 option (at this point this is just gonna be for me now). The cashier goes to confirm this with her manager and returns stating that only the salad will be on the house. Which has now turned this situation into me being outright lied to. This was my first and LAST experience with...
Read moreWe typically come here 3 times a week for lunch or dinner and order the same thing each time. It's definitely our favorite hotspot for food. Tonight was a different story. Last time I came in, my bread was hard as a rock but I didn't complain because sometimes things like that just happen. So this time, I came in, we ordered our food and I just mentioned to the cashier about them possibly not ocer toasting the bread. She was very polite and things were good. Paid, got our cups and went to get our drink. As we were standing there, filling up our drinks, the employees got the ticket for the order and things went south. Mind you, I'm still standing there and the employees said "some a**hole just ordered a sandwich with fresh bread" and continued to say inappropriate things along with jokes followed by laughter. MIND YOU, I'M STANDING RIGHT THERE! I went back to the register and asked for a manager. Erin came out and talked to me and seemed really displeased with her employees behavior after we talked for a minute. She handled the situation pretty well and made sure to do the appropriate manager things when it came to us being guests. She's the reason why I'm giving so many stars. Other wise it would have been a lower review. To the CHILDREN working in the back, break room talk stays in the break room. Not in the front and in front of customers. People have picky request sometimes. It happens. I'm sure you've made one or two before in your life.
Anyways, thanks Erin. I really appreciate your help this evening and thanks for supervising while they...
