After taking an Uber to order some Popeye's Chicken we entered the restaurant at approximately 9:30 PM. The website and signage at the location state they are open until 11:00 PM on Wednesday nights. When ordering, we were told they were closing soon and therefore had no chicken strips for sale. They also had no french fries or mashed potatoes. The employee stated it would be 3 minutes if we wanted mashed potatoes and french fries. No problem, we'd wait. So, we ordered 2 breasts, 2 legs, french fries and mashed potatoes WITHOUT gravy. When our order came out, we received NO breasts, mashed potatoes WITH gravy, french fries and 2 legs. However, at this point it was unbeknownst to us exactly what we received. Upon returning home from our Uber ride to Popeye's Chicken we discovered 50% of our "incredibly difficult" order was wrong. I then attempted to contact them to inform them of their mistake. Surprise, surprise, at approximately 10:10 PM they fail to answer either of their numbers. To summarize, I spent money on an Uber ride to and from Popeye's to receive 50% of my order incorrectly. This after ordering our secondary choices because chicken strips are apparently difficult to cook after 9:35 PM. I must admit, I feel like it was a GLORIOUS TRIP TO POPEYE'S! Money WELL SPENT and our appetites THOROUGHLY SATISFIED! If you too, like me, enjoy throwing your money away and being ENTIRELY DISSATISFIED after purchasing a meal, please VISIT THE POPEYE'S CHICKEN on 83rd AVENUE & THUNDERBIRD. Read moreI've never been a fan of Popeye's, though my S/O likes them, so I relented to an order.
I'd gotten a blackened chicken sandwich with some hope it'd actually have some spicy flavor much unlike their regular "spicy" anything, and admittedly it was very tasty. The downside was most else, where it was just a tiny piece of chicken that was entirely lost in the bun, even with bacon I barely noticed. Certainly NOT like the picture, of course, seemed like half a chicken sandwich.
Again I like spicy, so I decided to try their ghost pepper wings, and not only were these not at even mildly spicy, these were the most eviscerated, malnourished chicken wings I've ever had. They were 20% meat, 20% bone, and 60% breading. Highly disappointing, this will now be my example of the worst wings I've ever had.
My S/O wanted tenders, which were ok, not terribly large, some rather small pieces, but they seemed to have added some extra to make up for the fact at least. After half a child-sized chicken sandwich and baby chicken wings, I had to steal some of her tenders, thankfully we got a "family pack" of 14 for some leftovers to make up for the tiny servings.
Like most take out food, it's simply not worth it to eat at these places any more than out of desperation. Prices continue to go up, quality/quantity continues to go down, that we simply don't eat out anymore, and most certainly will not be making any more of a habit of...
Read moreThe back door area and the drive through was gross. I was starving so I went ahead and went on through and ordered. The clerk appeared to be extra busy but was still very nice to me. The chicken strips were not very hot when I got them and even less tasty. They were nice and crispy though. That was a plus. I had to ask for ranch to dip them I should’ve asked for hot sauce too. Maybe that would have helped. The biscuit was very good but small. (Thanks President Biden for the inflation that I’m sure reduced the size of biscuits) I have only ever been to one other Popeye’s. I still wasn’t sure what to order. Maybe if I ever try it again it will be better. Just not this location. I used to deliver food to restaurants when I worked for a major food distributor. If anyone wants to know how to tell if it’s dirty in the kitchen, just look at the service door at the back of the place. It always lets you know. If it’s dirty outside- it’s dirty inside. I almost left but I had been fasting for a blood test and I was very hungry and didn’t want to keep looking for a restaurant. I can’t go there again. It was a mess when I looked in the dirty drive up window. Clean it...
