Coming from socal perspective this taco shop is amazing. The sheer type, quality, and quantity of free sides/toppings for self serve is also amazing. I cannot say no to free guac and they leave tubs of it on self serve. I dont know how this place stays in business with their reasonable taco prices and unlimited sides. If this was so cal people would be making a run for the hills with a whole tub. And they even 1 upped socal by offering gloves like they do at boiling crab/crabhut so you can have a clean and non spicy eye rub at the end of your meal. So now on to the actual meat and entree review. The al pastor flavor is on point, juicy, but today when used in a large quantity at once such as in a quesadilla, was a lil salty. I just topped it with guac, dipped it into the onion cilantro and it balances out like a mexican quesadilla guac pizza. The street taco version i had before i ate the quesadilla is perfect. They have on offer both corn and flour tortillas if you have difficulty digesting corn tortillas. Cabeza is perfectly seasoned, the asada today was also perfectly seasoned but a lil dry however nothing a lil guac cannot take care of. If you are in town i highly recomend this location. Avoid the downtown location due to traffic and bad parking. These tacos are a do not miss. Eat the self serve guac before other people find out n they gotta ration it.

Tacos Califia Is a limited choice taqueria with pretty good food. As you walk in and wait in line the smell is pretty awesome with the cashier taking your order in either English or Spanish. There are three main meats to choose from, carne asada, pastor and pollo. Beef, pork marinated, chicken. They also have beef head but it looks like it was an afterthought. Menus are on poster board and prices start at $1.75 per taco. On Monday and Wednesday there's an all you can eat taco fest for $17 but we didn't see that as being a reasonable price. Ask for the tacos de pastor con pina (pineapple) you won't be sorry! Three choices of salsa in plastic bottles will find their way to your table. The red one is not ketchup, as our Puerto Rican comrade had hoped, but the hottest of the three salsas. We preferred the green for it's all over flavor and heat.. the wait from order to dispensing was about 15 minutes, which seemed like a little long when you considered how many people were in the kitchen working and how many customers were in the taqueria at 9pm. The tortillas are served in single layers. We usually prefer double but these were ok. The guacamole on the tacos is creamy and flavorful. No complaint about that. We tried the Jamaica and the Horchata, the Jamaica had a much better fresh taste. All in all it was good, but I would prefer more options of meats.

Plenty of seating tables and ample parking spaces available. The pricing for tacos is by item, not by plate (e.g. 4 tacos for X$) unlike most places, though they do offer a family pack. There are a variety of spicy salsas and toppings for your tacos, which is great. However, the "guacamole" they offer is different from traditional guacamole, as it's not 100% avocado. It could be labeled as "guacamole green salsa" or something similar. I tried the carne asada and al pastor tacos. The carne asada was okay, but I'm not sure if the meat is grilled or prepared differently. The pastor tacos are cooked on the Trompo as they should be, but the flavor was somewhat sweet to me. Perhaps their recipe is from the southern part of Mexico, where the food is sometimes sweeter than in the north. It's not a bad flavor, just different from what I'm used to. The customer service is good, and our food was served in a reasonable amount of time.

This is such an amazing taco place in West end of Phoenix. What makes this place amazing is the following: 1. It's cheap. Tacos are $1.79 (as of March 2019) and although they are small ish they are freaking delicious. 2. The salsa and accompaniments are amazing. There is a bowl of guacamole for you to slather on your taco and plenty of spicy and mostly mild salsas for you to enhance the taco 3. It's a real community place. Everyone comes from all around and different backgrounds. Why? Because tacos are amazing What this place isn't - 1. A sit down white tablecloth taco joint. From start to finish you'll be in and out in 15min. Be happy with plastic chairs and table guards 2. A burrito joint. No burritos served here I don't eat a lot in Phoenix. But so far this is the best place I've been. My wife and I visited two times in 24hrs.

They just serve you tacos with meat that you have to add the rest yourself. Salsa, avocado, onions, cilantro, etc. I had to fight three people collecting mountains of toppings for their tables. I didn't think the tiny girl could manage to carry 50 little containers across the restaurant, but she did it. Kudos. Even after all that, I gave it a 5/5. That's how good this place it. The options are limited, but that's the real magic. Perfect your few items, and you can become legend. Large menus are overrated. I watched the cashier pour me a drink on the counter when the mixing mat was like a few inches in front of her. That was strange, but it's not my counter to worry about. It wasn't very strong, but there wasn't an official bartender. Just one person doing too much. She was very nice, so bless her heart for trying.

Hanging on the shirt tails of Tacos Tijuana. The food is delicious, the place large enough to accommodate a decent size crowd. On the other hand...the service is in dire need of more hired hands. Very disorganized. There are no runners filling empty salsa bottles, cleaning tables, emptying trash cans! I saw multiple people cleaning off their own table. One guy asked to get his table cleaned and they handed him a rag! Lol, really?! You need to hire more people in order to keep this place successful! Great food alone will not get the job done. We had to wait nearly an hour to get our food. The owner's brother owns Tacos Tijuana, at least they have customer service there. Food here is delicious, no taking anything away from that...everything else, need assistance.
