This was where my son chose to have his 14th birthday dinner. He chose the slab of ribs, always hard to go wrong there at TRH. I chose an 11 oz sirloin MR. When it arrived, I noticed a good chunk of gristle off one edge. Around the other edge looked grayish with some untrimmed fat. I cut into the gristle to see how much I would lose by cutting it out. I expect that some sirloins are great and some need a little trimming at the table. There was a good run of connective tissue running through the middle of the steak. I set the steak off to the side of the table and ate my potato. It took a few minutes for the server to come by and ask how things were. I showed her what I found and told her I wasn’t going to eat it, I just got a bad cut. She asked if I wanted another, I declined because my son was done with his dinner by then and I didn’t want to drag out the time. She left the steak there on the table. I had noticed the manager twice walk by our table and look at the plate with the steak, but never stopped to chat. When the server came back, she cleared away all the plates and asked if we needed anything else. My son got dessert. After he finished, she brought the bill. The first check presented had the full dinner still on the bill. I asked her when she passed by if she would mind having the steak taken off since I didn’t eat any of it. She returned and said the value of the steak had been taken off. The manager took off $10. The 11 oz sirloin dinner is $21.99. So the steak she values at $10, meaning I paid $11.99 for a baked potato and a salad. Since the server didn’t take the steak away immediately, I’m guessing the manager was never made aware immediately of an issue and did not see the steak before going to the garbage. I’ve had issues with steaks there before, it’s been hit or miss. When it’s good, it’s really good there. I’ve never seen a manager take a partial amount off the bill for someone who didn’t get to eat what they ordered and had a not great dinner experience. I think I’m just done going there. It’s a gamble when I go. I just did a birthday dinner for another kid back in December and it was great. You can get a couple good trips in a row and then get hit with a bad one. TRH has always been a go to steakhouse for me because I know how it’s supposed to be. The server was mostly good, very polite and attentive. Just a fumble on making a bad dinner better and not communicating properly with a manager. Also not seeing a manager at the table (especially when I saw her walk by and eye the steak plate pushed to the edge...
Read moreWow just wow! Our son was excited because he had won an award at school and got gift certificate. We ordered everything seem good, Sierra the waitress comes to the table and says we can’t expect this for his food it has to be something else, my wife says ok, let me change what I’m ordering so I can give my son some of my food. At the time everything seemed fine. Some how or another Sierra cancels all of our food and about 30 min later chicken fingers come out with honey mustard all over it, which is crazy cause no honey mustard was ordered at all. We are dumb founded on where rest of our food is. A second waitress tells us we didn’t order other food, we were like wait what of course we ordered other food (ribeyes). She tells us again we didn’t! I ask for manager at this moment, Janelle which says she is the manager comes out with a huge attitude, saying my med steak would only take a min, however she’s not talking about my steak because I ordered rare steak. I explained I didn’t order a medium steak and I just ask for the bill. We are now clearly upset, instead of Janelle having some empathy for Their mistake and apologizing, she tells us we were wrong. Again I asked for the bill which at this point Only has a tea on it. Jenelle storms off, We wait about 7 minutes and still no bill, so we get up to walk to the front , I have a $3.79 tea I need to pay for. When we are try to pay and speaking with the other manager (a very nice gentleman) Janelle now starts accusing me of yelling, I say to other manager, I have no voice how am I yelling (I currently am horse) Both Janelle and Sierra are now even more upset that the only cash I have is $100 bill. Janelle then says to me I’m a trouble maker. I’m like wait what?!?! That can’t be further from the truth. As the servers always get 20-25% and love us! The only time we ever have spoken with a manger was to tell them how amazing another server was 6 months prior. She even went on to say we come in all the time… we were dumbfounded again, I guess every 6 months is all the time.
All of this could have been avoided had someone just apologize for...
Read moreAfter waiting 35 minutes for our food, I received my 12oz Ribeye steak and ribs combo with fries, corn and a piece of blonde HAIR in my first bite of steak. The server was still putting out food when I cut a piece of steak and took a bite only to find a piece of hair in my mouth along with my steak. I showed it to my server who offered to make me a new steak. Well 4 minutes later he returned with my same steak only cooked a little more which now turned my medium hair steak into a well done hair steak. He also stuck my ribs in a broiler, what I'm guessing from the flavor, and got them nice and hot and overcooked. My daughter's steak came out bloody beyond belief when she ordered her steak Medium. I'm guessing their cooks do not know how to cook a steak in a "steakhouse". She sent it back and again, they stuck it in a broiler and it came out burnt on the outside, but still bloody on the inside. So I ended up eating her steak instead of mine. So my son-in-law stared at his burger for about 5 minutes debating on whether or not he even wanted to try the burger. He ate about half of it, I ate one of my overcooked ribs, my fries and some of my cold corn. My daughter ate her chicken and sides. All in all, a terrible experience. I will not be going back to a Texas Roadhouse ever again. Oh, and for the hair in my steak, I got a cool $10 off my bill. $10?! That's it. I'm not one to look for something free, but I believe my meal should have been comped at the very least. But it wasn't so unfortunately I had to take the remainder of what I felt was owed to me out of my server's would be tip. He clearly did not see anything wrong with the situation if he went to bat for me with his manager and came back with a $10 discount. So yeah, I took it up on myself to cover the cost of my meal, unfortunately at the expense of the server. Perhaps he should seek employment elsewhere if that is how Texas Roadhouse treats...
