We have ben traveling lately and spending short stops for over night lodging. Although you get a pretty good idea of what one might think of a particular lodge. In this case, we spent an extended amount of time in this La Quinta Inn. So we had time to really experience this La Quinta. This La Quinta is a very nice facility as a first impression. As such, I was possibly going to give it a rare five star rating that I only give to the outstanding vs. price point. But as time went on, the possible five star rating diminished. Our room was very nice. French doors for the bathroom. A nice two sided desk. Two refrigerators and just a nice design. But the French doors proved less than ideal. The door latch was missing and proved more difficult to close, and noisy at night. The shower/bath selector did not work. But that was minor since we shower normally anyway. That was until we found the drain also didn't work. But they repaired the drain that day when we told them. One might think that a room this nice might provide a safe for valuables. Well they don't. So take your chances or take then with you. But leaving them probably isn't such a problem since they do not clean the rooms anyway. We found out that if you want empty trash, clean towels or such. You must schedule an appointment the day before. So we did that. But they do not replace coffee, cups or toilet paper. We tried a couple of times. But no coffee or such after the originals were used. They left drinks in the refrigerator from pervious guests. One had beer, the other sodas. We're not sure if it was on purpose for folks to use, if they planned on charging us if you used. Or if they just don't look in the two refrigerators when they do clean the rooms after guests depart. Breakfast is lacking at best. It is the same everyday. The only hot food is either a waffle, or sausage. There is only one waffle maker since the second had a broke note the whole week we were there. They only put out a few sausage at a time, probably to avoid the cost of waste. They have cold hard boiled eggs. And that's the extent of protein or hot meal. Sunday breakfast had more guests. As such when we arrived at 8:30ish. There was only one sausage that we had to split. No plastic silverware other than a knife. We had to eat our sausage and cold eggs with our hands. No coffee. No milk for cereal. And you could not get near the two toasters to try to make toast since there was nothing else to eat. We had a cup of juice, then had to buy breakfast elsewhere since we were hungry and the hotel only provides for a few guests at a time. As such, we realized that this La Quinta is more focused on maximizing profits by provided as little to the guests as they can. Make your own bed. Buy your own coffee and toilet paper. Buy your own breakfast. It goes on and on. Last but not least. You can only use the doors on the entrance side of the hotel. The door on the other side has a note saying broken. So if you're in a room on that end, folks must park however far from the door and walk to the door. Then you have to walk the entire length of the hotel because you can't come in the door near your room. So although there is a couple of handicap spots on that end. They are useless to guests. I saw handicapped people having to walk from far spots to the only door because the three spots were taken and the others useless. The notes on both the door and the waffle maker were there the entire week we stayed. So apparently there is no rush to repair these items. Let the handicap walk. It's cheaper. So all in all this Laquinta is a nice hotel. Nice facilities including the pool area. A nice location. Nice rooms. But it seems like higher profits take priority over guests actually having a nice stay. A hotel that very well might have rated five stars from us, slowly was reduced to two stars. Not because the hotel is run down or in a bad location. No it only merited two stars because other than the room, everything about this hotel screamed to us that they could care less, just pay us the money....

We made our reservation almost ONE YEAR before we arrived to assure we got an upgraded room (suite) for spring training. (Husband had to do some work.) Upon arrival after driving 6 hours to get there, we were told by the two young 20 something gals manning the desk that their internet had been down all day so they were having "a little trouble." We got our key, went to the room only to see that there was obviously someone already in the room. Oops. That is not what they wanted us to come back and tell them. It took awhile to figure out that someone had given out room to another guest a few hours prior but not updated their paper list they were working off of. Of course, there are no other similar rooms left, only one double room. No, that is NOT acceptable. We made our reservation a year ago. Can we speak to a manager? No, there is no manager on duty, (Really?) A call was made to someone who told the young gal to "go to the person in the wrong room and tell them they need to move." (Like that will really work??) Of course not, they refused to move. What to do? These poor gals were clueless, no manager, only one unacceptable room. Meanwhile, there are numerous other people waiting to check in. One guest came up and said he would give us his king room. He was alone and had no problem with the double room. Bless his heart. This was eventually resolved the next day.
The room quality was not good. NO amenities other than plastic drinking cups and one single "make up remover". Breakfast was nothing special. Coffee was horrible, no real juice or any kind, a few pieces of bread, bagels and some yucky looking pasties. Eggs and a meat looked average. Plugs did not work unless the overhead lights were on. Made charging things difficult. Sure would have been nice to have some kind of info in the room letting us know.
Elevator made very loud clunking noises, ice only on two of the 5 floors of the hotel, other guests complained that the jacuzzi was not working, back door to the outside did not close/lock. (Huge safety issue!) We reported it, they did not seem to care. The WORST thing was the horrendous air freshener that totally permeated all the common areas. Severely understaffed, everything seemed to be the poorest quality they could get.
DO NOT stay here unless the location is all that matters. There are other hotels that are in easy...
Read moreOn Friday booked a 2 night stay for that Saturday/Sunday. When we arrived on Saturday I informed the front desk that we’d only be staying Saturday as we needed to return home sooner than we’d planned. The girl told me she couldn’t cancel the Sunday reservation but I could visit the front desk Sunday morning and “those ladies could do it”. I went down Sunday morning and 2 young ladies (who never smiled nor even said Good Morning) told me they couldn’t cancel it and that I’d need to call Booking.com because I made the reservation thru them. I spoke to Booking and the nice lady cancelled my Sunday night stay and then needed to place me on hold “to get the cancellation approved”. When she came back on the line she told me my request was denied because she’d phoned the hotel and “they refused the cancellation request.” I went back downstairs and told the 2 unfriendly clerks that I was trying to do the right thing by simply paying for the one night we stayed but if they refused to cancel my Sunday night reservation then I’d contact my credit card company to dispute the entire charge. She again told me she couldn’t cancel it. On Monday I phoned the hotel to speak to the Manager & left a message for her to call me back. No response. I called again the next day and she was unavailable. I recounted my issue to the desk clerk “Alex” who stated they should have canceled my reservation upon check-in and that she’d speak to the Manager. I followed up AGAIN with Alex who informed me she’d spoken with the Manager and she denied my cancellation and refused to credit my card for one night’s stay. BEWARE, shady unprofessional characters working at this location-it’s ALL about the money!! I’d recommend staying any place else...
