Wienerschnitzel is a place I've been eating at since I was a kid. It spawned my liking towards chili cheese dogs. They arent the best ones by a long shot either, but they have their own unique quality. The slice of cheese and the ketchup sweet meat no beans sauce with a sad little cheap hot dog on a bun is an addiction close to that of the Jack in the Box Taco. Now that I think of it both have a slice of cheese.
This visit, I was on the way to Westgate to watch a movie with the kids. Its a 50 mile trek from home. I figured we could grab a quick bag of dogs here so I didnt have to spend $500 trying to eat at the theater.
I pulled into the drive-thru, they had a chili dog special that was like a 6 pack of them and a daily corn dog special. I asked the person taking the order to add cheese to the chili dogs. Pulled around to the window to pick up the order and was asked if we wanted ketchup or mustard and I chose mustard. Paid something like $20 for my order, which isnt too bad nowadays and pulled into an empty spot in the parking lot to wolf down the food.
I didnt need to add mustard/ketchup to my chili dogs but the mustard would've been for my daughters corn dogs. They declined to put mustard though and instead gifted us with a grip of ketchup packets. There is 2 things in this world that I dont like, brussell sprouts and ketchup on hot dogs. I offered to go back in to get some mustard but my daughter declined. I opened up my first chili dog and found out they didnt do cheese. I checked the reciept and I wasnt charged for cheese, the person just skipped the part where I wanted it added, and I know they charge an extra $1 per dog when they add cheese, which is robbery but I like it.
Food tasts as expected. Employees were pleasant at the same time as missing attention to detail. The baseline is exactly this though, you cant have high expectations and eat for less. I'll certainly go back...
Read moreNice workers and the drive through was quick, but.....Honestly nothing special. The dogs are your garden variety BAR-S quality, the chili sauce tastes canned and the whole experience is underwhelming. But then again it's cheap. As someone use to Tony Packo's or Rudy's Hotdog, being from Toledo I'm not surprised. Their dogs are something to bark about. These are just a wimper. I'm use to a dog that is full of flavor without any toppings. These were bland with them. Rudy's uses real chili loaded with real beef. Very tasty. Their chili has so much beef in it you can use it as the main meat in the bun itself . These chilis had sauce that lacked flavor.... except salt.
Service was quick and pleasant. But upping the quality would be a good move.
Note: update!! Their all beef dogs are much better. I had a few recently and was pleasantly surprised. Also their fries are McDonald clones. They...
