OMG the food is so good!!!!! My group was looking for a more modern pho place in the area, and we decided on this place with low expectations since it was really new. I didn't think the pho broth would be as good as Pho Dan, which is excellent. Well, this broth was very complex and very rich! I would say it's on par with Pho Dan. I honestly thought it would be more "Americanized" version of pho lol.
The Food: All of the food absolutely exceeded our expectations and the portions were just right. My husband had brisket pho and he really enjoyed it. He's not really a pho-lover, so that's saying something. I had shrimp pho with beef tendon added, and it was excellent! Our little one had the kids noodle only pho and she ate all of it. She and I both love pho! The eggrolls and the sauce they serve it with were omg so good! I ordered more to go :) Also, the beignet fries were soo sooo soooooo good! I'm from Louisiana, and I know good beignets. These are so good and easy to eat without getting all messy with powdered sugar everywhere. They are a little greasy, so just use a napkin to soak up the extra oil.
One of the stars of our meal was the LEMONADE! It is not like any other lemonade. It tastes very natural, homemade, and kind of floral or herbal. I can not place the flavor, but we all loved it!
The Service: It was a really busy night (Friday), and there was a bit of a wait, but the lady owner (I'm assuming she was the owner) was super helpful and nice. She was proactive and on top of things despite the large crowd. Our server was pleasant and came to check on us appropriately. The servers helped each other out, and it was a nice touch.
Since it's a new restaurant, I did not dock points for service since they were all nice and the food was delicious. However, there are a few things to note that they will undoubtedly improve over time. They took a long time to get the kids pho out even though it was the simplest entree we ordered (and the first). I had to ask about it a few times.
Also, the eggroll appetizer came out a pretty long time after the pho. I also had to ask about the to go order of eggrolls. Beignets took a while too. Nevertheless, everyone was so pleasant and helpful that I would not dock points for that. I understand that they are just getting started, and the food more than makes up for the lapses in smooth service. We even tipped our server $20 on a $50 bill :)
The Atmosphere: The restaurant is kind of small for the amount of people that were there and several people left while waiting for a table. I was considering leaving too, but I'm glad we stayed! The place was very loud, so don't expect to have a normal volume conversation when it's busy inside. We had to basically yell our conversation to each other lol The place is pretty trendy and new, so I expect it to be busy like this at times that most restaurants are busy. I would either order take out in the future or go during non-peak times for a snack of eggrolls, beignet fries, and lemonade.
The Price: It's more expensive than other local pho restaurants, but it's not more expensive that other "sit-down" restaurants. Just check the menu that they have on Facebook to see their prices/available selections.
Overall, this place is a gem in Pflugerville and will only get better with time. I highly...
Read moreI’m SOOOOO disappointed :( My husband and I had been waiting to try this place out for lunch since it opened. Months later, it worked out to where we could have a midweek lunch date and decided to give B and B a try. We walked up to the door, where we were greeted by A friendly employee that took our order. The entry was blocked by a table separating the customers from employees due to covid. Everything looked clean inside and they had hand sanitizer and cleaners within reach. We are pretty boring when it comes to Vietnamese food. I always order vermicelli with chicken, pork, and egg roll and husband the chicken pho. I was surprised it only took 5 minutes to receive our order, but then again, there was no line and much of what we had ordered could be easily prepped ahead of time... It it was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside at the lake just a five minute drive away. My husband was starving and dipped into his soup immediately telling me it was barely warm. He does like his soup pot or at least able to see steam coming off. I’ve been to several restaurants where it wasn’t to his temperature satisfaction and he has them microwaved it. For me on the other hand, I have a very sensitive mouth and my food can’t be too hot… I’m the one who has to wait like 10 minutes to take a drink of my coffee in the morning. I decided to try his soup as well since it was our first time at this restaurant. He wasn’t wrong-it was barely warm! More like Luke warm. I rationalized that it would have been “five minutes warmer“ had we had eaten inside. Next I open my box and got really excited. Please see attached picture. Look at all that meat! I open my box and got really excited. Please see attached picture. Look at all that meat! This is going to be so good! WRONG. First, it was only pork. Or honestly it was sliced so thin and tasted so much like cardboard that I’m not exactly sure but it could have been chicken? Either way, this was the only meat... It was also cold, rubbery, yet dry and stringy. Oh my I’m so disappointed! The sliced cucumbers, carrots, Green onion, lettuce and noodles were all fine and tasted fresh....
Read moreIs there an organization that checks on restaurants in Texas to make sure that they’re selling freshly cooked meals ?
I’ve been sick for a few days and today I had a fever as well as body aches with dizziness. I didn’t feel well enough to cook so I ordered chicken pho from Broth & Basil in Pflugerville Texas for pickup . Grub hub would have taken too long so I decided to pickup . The woman who answered the phone told me it would be ready in 15 mins. When I got home I was very disappointed with the food . The chicken, noodles and sliced onions with cilantro were in a styrofoam container and the broth in a soup container . I understand why they separate the noodles because rice noodles “ melt “ if sit too long in the broth . To my surprise the chicken and noodle were ice cold almost frozen and the broth lukewarm. The chicken looked and tasted like it was cooked a year ago. It was very very stale . I couldn’t eat the food .
I called the restaurant to complain about the food and how disappointed I was . I spoke to two different persons including the assistant manager . They told me that take out pho/ soup orders are always sold cold . I asked why would they sell stale cold chicken. The man told me that they keep it cold for sanitary reasons . My questin was why stale boiled chicken without salt or seasoning . A restaurant should sell chicken that was freshly cooked warm and not old food for takeout . The assistant manager told me that it is the customer’s responsibility to take the food home and heat it up . I told her that if I wanted to cook or reheat food I wouldn’t have ordered from them becaus the website’s menu didn’t state that the food is cold or frozen food . Why would I pay $14 for frozen pho dinner as take out ? I was too upset, weak and dizzy to drive back so I threw the food away. What a waste of my money ! I will not be ordering from them again . How could they have 5 star rating ? I ordered soup not salad so the chicken should have been fresh and hot.
I can cook and I know when chicken is old and stale vs fresh .
I wish I had taken a picture...
