We love Typhoon Texas and get season passes every year. It's the perfect size for my 5-year-old with plenty to do for him. We try to go early when it's easier to find a table in the shade.
The food is generally pretty good and a bit pricey but not over-the-top expensive. I do wish you could bring your own water or snacks. There aren't really any healthy food choices other than a fruit cup. We have the refillable cups but the soda fountain is often out of ice, or only one of the three is working. I was told I can't refill my personal water bottle at the soda fountain even with water, you have to wait in line at one of the food stations. They really should add more stations for guests to fill their own water bottles with ice and water. There is a water fountain near the restroom, but it's not convenient. Very often we'd go to one of the places to order food and several workers are just standing around, not taking orders or helping customers. They would only have one person helping customers which makes the lines take a long time even when there aren't many people in it. It took 10 minutes for me to wait behind 3 people just to refill my water bottle. There are signs around the park advertising milk shakes, however the ice cream machine has been broken every time we've asked about them.
We rented a cabana this year with some friends and while we loved having it, the service was SLOW. Our food order took an hour, which, for hungry small kids is an eternity. It doesn't take long if you order yourself at the food stand, so I don't know why it's longer for the cabanas. Drink orders also took a while but not as long, the frozen drinks arrived frozen so we were happy. We ordered the cheeseburger platter for 4 (it came with our cabana price) and they brought the platter with no plates, napkins or plasticware. The person who delivered it told us they couldn't retrieve those items for us since they "just deliver the food". It took almost 30 minutes for our server to get our ticket for the day when it was time for us to leave.
Overall we love Typhoon Texas and will continue to return. However there are lots of little customer service issues like the ones I noted above that management...
Read moreWe have season passes. We've gone here twice so far and we love it. Its a smaller water park but its still so much fun. There are about 9 or 10 large slides. There is a wave pool, a lazy river, a water playground for the younger kids, and another pool to play basketball and other things. There are also about 5 or 6 smaller slides on the water playground for the younger kids.
There are lots of different food choices. There is pizza, burgers, wings, chicken tenders, mac n cheese, jumbo corn dogs, fries, chilli cheese fries, tacos, ice cream, snow cones, beer, soda, icees, pretzels, and more. The food is a little overpriced but it is tasty. The mac n cheese does NOT come out of a box and it is DELISH! We also bought the Typhoon Texas souvenir cup and we get unlimited drinks with the cup for the entire season. If you don't want to buy the cup, you can buy a drink wristband for $5 to get unlimited drinks for the day.
There is a stage with a DJ. There is also a full bar for the 21+ crowd near the DJ's stage. I think the music is played entirely too loud though but thats not a big deal. The DJ plays a variety of music for everyone from 90s hits, to today's hits, to r&b, rap, country, and pop. I like that everyone's type of music is played. There was also a band there when I went on 5/29/21 but I preferred the DJ. The DJ was more entertaining because the band wasn't my taste in music (but thats no biggie).
There's a birthday party area. There are also characters walking around entertaining the crowd and taking pictures with guests. All of the employees are very helpful, nice, and professional. The lifeguards seem to be paying attention to the kids in the water. There is enough to do for everyone. I went here with my kids (5yo and 7yo) and my nephews (13yo and 17yo) and we all had an absolute blast. I'm glad I bought season passes.
Edited to say: We went to Typhoon Texas again (for the 5th time) on 05/30/22 and we rented a cabana. Andy was our server and he was phenomenal. He was fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. He took our orders and returned quickly with what we needed. We had a blast and we'll...
Read moreTyphoon Texas Waterpark is a great place to take your family and friends and have a great time. The Waterpark has 4 main water slides two of them with 3 slides. The reason I say this it's because you'll make a line at 4 points, but in two of them you can choose to ride one of 3 slides. There's also the area for kids and toddlers that has water slides but they're small and you barely make a line for those.
Pro tip 1: BUY TICKETS AND FASTPASS AT COSTCO. If you're only going once during the summer, buy your tickets at Costco. They sell a 2 tickets and 2 fastpassess for 60 bucks. And that makes your experience a whole lot better. We rode all the slides twice in half the time as everyone else, therefore, we had more fun. It's either that or buy the season pass with FASTPASS.
Pro tip 2: Get there really early (10:30 AM) or really late (4:00 PM). One, you will get a better parking space (this is important), and two you will get a table or pool chairs to leave your stuff. This becomes really important because when the sun comes or when you get tired, where you're sitting makes a big difference. There's also "Cabañas" that you can rent but you have to make a reservation, and most season pass holders do that.
Pro tip 3: Bring your own food and leave it in the car. You can save a ton of money by preparing your own food and eating it in the car. They don't let you in with food or drinks to the park and food inside is expensive, like 12 dollars a burger expensive. If you just go with a partner, then it's no biggie, but if you go with more than 3 people, it gets expensive really fast. They'll let you out and give you a stamp to go back in. It's a common practice.
Pro tip 4: Buy the all day Refill drink "bucket". This let's you refill your drink for 14.99 a day or 24.99 all summer. TONS of people do this and they end up sharing, so if you're thirsty this is a cheap way to have something inside the park and not have to go back to your car every time.
I hope this helps, leave a useful...
