I think there's something to say with over 1k reviews there are either only 5 stars or a few 1 star reviews. The moment we walked in we felt completely unwelcomed. There was only one other 2 top sitting in an empty restaurant at 4:30pm on a Thursday. We could've sat there for an hour and no one would've came to our table for service. We ordered the king platter by asking a child that was there if there's anyone in the restaurant we can order from. We ordered at 4:40 and didn't get our food until 5:30. The platter was suppose to come with grilled veggies and fries. I had to ask for the fries as they didn't bring it out with the platter. No grilled veggies either. I asked about the grilled veggies and he said it's in there. Which was raw onions and a handful of cherry tomatoes. More than half the platter was cold by the time we got it. The entire experience was uncomfortable and so disappointing and as if we were bothering them just by being there. If you are not of the culture I would say your business is not...
Read moreI chose this restaurant based on reviews on Google, but I am 100% dissatisfied with both the environment and the quality of their food and service. This restaurant seems to cater primarily to Pakistanis, as no one there could speak English. We waited over an hour for our food, and when a nine-year-old child finally took our order, he later informed us that the dish we had requested was unavailable and that we needed to choose something else. Out of politeness, we didn’t cancel our order and waited for another forty minutes until the food arrived. However, the meal was nothing like the picture on the menu, and instead of steak, much of the dish consisted of bones and fat.
To make matters worse, their service was incredibly slow. Each of our orders was served separately, with a half-hour gap between servings. By the time the main course arrived, none of us had the...
Read moreYou know how people say that the little "hole in the wall" place is where you'll find the best, most authentic food? Well that's absolutely true of Cafe Rokhat and the delicious Uzbek food you'll have at this spot.
The plov is the best I've had in all of Philly (and there are plenty of options in the Northeast). The qurotob (a dish from Tajikistan) is a unique culinary delight, and I haven't been able to find it anywhere else. The samsas are a lunch staple in my house.
It's a fully halal menu. Everything is so reasonable priced, with excellent portion sizes.
The staff are so kind and always willing to help, even though there can sometimes be a bit of a language barrier. Don't let that stop you from trying this amazing food! This is a family-owned spot and truly a gem in...
