During a recent visit to Crab Du jour in Philadelphia, my husband and I were left thoroughly unimpressed by the overall experience at this establishment. Our stop at the restaurant, while waiting to attend my stepdaughter's high school graduation at the Met, turned out to be a disappointing one from start to finish.
Upon entering Crab Du jour, we were met with an initial impression of closure, as the place seemed deserted. It was only when a young lady approached us that we decided to stay for a drink while we waited. However, the lack of bar stools at the bar area forced us to take a table, which felt slightly odd and inconvenient.
The pervasive requirement for all staff to wear masks, despite the pandemic having ended three years ago, created an uncomfortable atmosphere. While I understand the importance of safety measures, it left me with a sense of unease, as if everyone was unwell.
The drinks we ordered were a major letdown, as they were exorbitantly overpriced and lacking in quality. Served with minimal liquor and no garnish, they failed to impress and left us wishing we had opted for a simple beer instead. To add to the disappointment, the server seemed disinterested, providing swift service without any follow-up or engagement.
After a lackluster experience with the drinks, we made the decision to leave and wait elsewhere, opting for Dunkin Donuts across the street instead. The lack of attention to detail, poor service, and overall lackluster ambiance left us with no desire to return or recommend this establishment to others.
While I cannot comment on the food quality as we did not dine, the overall atmosphere and service left much to be desired. Additionally, the sight of staff members lounging at a table near the entrance, engrossed in their cell phones, further detracted from the professionalism and appeal of Crab Du jour.
In conclusion, our visit to Crab Du jour in Philadelphia was a disappointing one, marred by subpar service, overpriced drinks, and a lackluster atmosphere. I would not recommend this establishment based on our experience, and I will not be returning in the future. If I could give zero...
Read moreToday, I visit Crab Du Jour Philly as we have many times. Enjoying my meal with my date . The food was pretty good. (Today over seasoned) However, I ate my food. I decided that next time, no seasoning it was too salty. As we're chatting enjoying our conversation time alone, a roach crawled from under the napkin dispenser. The damn thing was moving so fast that I wasn't able to kill it. I nicely brought the situation to the waitress attention not making a scene. The other male employee asked if we want to bag the rest of our food....? Absolutely Not!!! He then proceeded to bring us a check with 40% off. My date implies he needed to do better. Then he says 50% but we have to pay something... As we're leaving, I'm feeling grossed out and looks on the floor... there are more roaches. The dude uses a tissue to pick it up and starts looking for more. I say to him I'm calling L & I "tomorrow." His response: ok No apology, nothing. I suggest that no one should eat here anymore. No accountability! Super Pissed off! We shouldn't have paid anything. Only God knows what the kitchen...

Didn't follow instructions; included cheese sticks that cannot be eaten, AFTER I requested onion rings, which are of equal in value. I specifically asked that the Family item be removed, if the onion rings could not be substituted. I wanted the Family Appetizer Bundle removed, unfulfilled & uncharged.
Otherwise, EVERYTHING very good, except there was a shrimp-tail in the batter, for calamari, which lost its heat this trip; this is 2nd time, in a row that a tail, was found my 2nd order. *shell fish warning
Expected crab cakes, not loose, minced crab on the po'boy; loved the bread the most. *it does read "crab-meat"
1st order: Fish (whiting) Sliders, Fried Shrimp & Fried Calamari; the Calamari was great; not greasy, over cooked or salty, with a tempura like batter. Everything arrived hot & fresh; with cutlery, napkins, sauces on the side. *both...
