The food was amazing, but unfortunately the treatment from staff was unprofessional and unacceptable at closing time.
We stayed at an Air BB in the Civic building Friday and Saturday for a show at The Met. The restaurant/bar/mini golf is attached to or with inside the Civic building.
Saturday morning/early afternoon we stopped by Libertee for some tacos on a special menu, i had 3 tacos and water, my girlfriend had 4 tacos and a beer.
A DJ played while we ate, the music was slammin.... We got the bill, I paid it, we left, walked around the block then back to our AirBB upstairs and napped for 4 hours until we walked over to The Met.
After the show we decided to stop back at Libertee and have a few beers. We arrived at 10:15 or so. We ordered a few rounds of beers..basically 4 total for each of us.....don't get me wrong, we can put them back, but in this case...i only had a few all day.
Libertee closes at 12 midnight, cool.....at 11:30 pm it's about to be last call, I asked for 2 beers to close it out, he would only give me one...basically said that multiple people have seen me here all day.....I'm like, yeah...I'm staying upstairs, I've had 5 beers including those i just ordered from you all day...like, seriously.....
He just tossed us the bill on the bar and snarkly said have a good night.
I still tipped him, though sarcastically and in spite, but mostly because I'm not a total douche. I try my best to respect others, even though it may not be returned from the others.
I don't know what his issue was, but he was clearly irritated with me as soon as we sat down. We weren't loud, only talked to ourselves and the bartender, we weren't stumbling or falling off our chairs or exhibiting any other rude or socially unacceptable behaviors, but his actions and attitude ruined the whole...
Read moreThe place had all the right things going on; lots of games, lots of indoor/outdoor space, lots of drink choices. However, it was an MBA’s wet dream, not something constructed by a real restauranteur. This is supported in a few ways: 1) it’s a mish-mosh of several popular types of bars without any real identity if it’s own. You would find this place in literally any city around the country — hardly something to seek out. 2) it’s in a pretty bad area. Between temple and fairmount is slowly being gentrified (take that how you will), but as of now it’s not okay. Nothing else is really around it, and this is hardly a destination. 3) the big one. Mini golf there is a pretty serious deal, taking up about 50-60% of the space on the lower level. It costs $10/person/round. Not bad, but how much time do you expect to spend for this cost? An hour? Apparently, management thinks it’s totally fine for both customers and employees to start a round of mini golf right at last call. This puts customers in the position of lower volume music and a lack of drinks while trying to enjoy their $40 round of golf, and puts employees in the position of having to stay late just so management can earn an extra $150 off late customers. Yes, the manager I spoke to was right in that “the lights aren’t being turned off, you’re not getting kicked out” so he is right on paper. However, if you spend any time here past 11pm you’ll notice a very distinct shift in the overall feel of the place - and it’s not okay. It’s not enjoyable and I would not recommend this place for a night out...
Read moreTrying to be unbiased here because I loved the vibe and I want the guys that opened this place up to be super successful because they were an awesome group of people.
Came here with a group of people and they were able to accommodate us on a Friday night which was awesome. I like the openness of the spot and the fact that whole downstairs is essentially an adult playground. The mini golf and huge garden games were well thought out and awesome.
The reason its not a 5 out of 5 is me being critical of the food and drinks. The Laotian fried rice was AMAZING, probably my favorite thing on the menu, but I would say when you look on the menu, everything is either fried or carbs - they had one salad option. Listen I get it, bar food - just wish they had some other options. On the drinks side, they beer menu was expansive and had a lot of local options which was awesome. The nitpick here was the cocktails were on the sweeter side. I was really excited for their mezcal drink with the thai chili syrup, but I really think they overpowered the smoky and spicy flavor with sweetness. Same thing on their take on an espresso martini, it was essentially a masala chai martini - excited for it, but the only flavor you got was cardamom.
I think this place is excellent, great energy and vibe and I hope they do...
