Today I call in an order for pick up. Large plain pizza for the Eagles game and an Italian hoagie to be eaten later for the late game. I arrived at the location to see it cleaned up. Mind you since last owner which had a pigeon problem with bird droppings out front. They took care of that problem. Walked into the establishment and it was the cleanest I ever have seen it. Mind you I have been going there for years when the original owner was there. I stop going there when another owner took over but the food quality went down. The owner ask me if I have ever been here before but under this new management. This was my first time. I was offered a sample of wings with their special sauce. I took it and I highly recommend this. I’m not a big wings person but the sauce made it special. The pizza was on point. The cheese, sauce and the crust was yummy. The Italian hoagie was missing the provolone cheese that usually comes with having an Italian Hoagie. I just found that odd. The Hoagie quality was a little underwhelming compared to other pizza places. More on the level of the quality Wawa serves. I also love that they call me to leave me a voice mail telling me my order was ready for pickup. Nice customer service touch. I do recommend this place for any food lovers in the neighborhood. As I will try other items from their menu as some of their other offerings...
Read moreLet's start off by saying we love wings. I will drive to NY just to get wings. It's what we do.
My significant other saw a FaceBook video post sensationalizing the crispy chicken wings and the infamous sauces available. LIES...All LIES. The 47 min drive wound up being over an hour due to traffic.
ISSUE 1 - the price online is different than the actual menu price (and posted price on the screen inside) which was different than what I was charged. Showed the cashier the discrepancy and was told unfortunately the manager is not here.
ISSUE 2 - the wings are advertised with the sauce on them. The cashier tells me they come dry, you have to add the sauce yourself AFTER they are prepared and bagged.
ISSUE 3 - was missing 2 sauces and 1 blue cheese.
ISSUE 4 - the food tasted like trash. There was NOTHING appealing about the taste. As was the Italian sausage Stromboli.
On a positive note, the cashier was very friendly. And their wings are CRISPY!
Will we go back or refer anyone to this establishment? NOPE!
We spend over $80 in food and another $20 in gas and tolls.
Normally we will reach out to the establishment to let them know about our experience prior to submitting a review. What could they fix? Outside of a full refund, nothing.
What can we say, you win some and...
Read moreWe didn’t walk into Mama Mia’s with high expectations—we were just in the area and hungry. But we were pleasantly surprised. The pizza was good—not great—but definitely above average. To be fair, we’re from New Jersey, just a few blocks from Brooklyn Square and a reasonable drive from work to Deluca’s (which, as Dave Portnoy said, is so good the school mascot should be changed to the Fighting DeLucas—and we agree). So yes, we’ve got pretty high standards when it comes to pizza.
What really stood out, though, were the extras. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and they let us sample the chicken spring rolls—so good we immediately ordered a full portion. But the real star of the show? The chicken wings. Huge, crispy, and packed with flavor—some of the best we’ve had anywhere. They are amazing both with and without the top tier homemade sauce.
Would I drive from Jersey just for the pizza? No. But for those wings? Absolutely. Mama Mia’s is a hidden gem tucked in a nondescript strip mall on Bustleton Avenue. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re...
