I recently revisited North 3rd, a spot I enjoyed when I first moved to Philadelphia, drawn in by its inviting, art-filled atmosphere and neighborhood charm. Unfortunately, this time the food and service fell far short of the promise set by its warm, eclectic interior.
After browsing the menu, we decided on the Pickle Juice Martini, French Onion Soup, Mac & Cheese, Honey Fried Chicken Sandwich, and the Pork Italiano Sandwich with Eggplant Fries. The drink arrived quickly, and the rest of the food followed just as fast — all at once. There was no coursing or pacing; the soup and sandwiches landed on the table simultaneously, creating a rushed and disjointed dining experience.
The service was infrequent and lackluster throughout the meal, ultimately earning a disappointing 2.5 out of 5 stars.
The food was, quite simply, underwhelming. The Honey Fried Chicken Sandwich arrived as a towering mass of fried breading with barely a trace of chicken inside — after one bite, it was clear the sandwich was mostly crispy coating rather than actual meat. 2/5 stars.
The Pulled Pork Italiano Sandwich fared no better. Served on a long seeded roll, it contained minimal pork hidden beneath layers of cheese and spinach, resulting in an overly salty, unbalanced bite that was nearly inedible.
The Mac & Cheese was uninspired and almost entirely devoid of flavor — two bites were enough to set it aside.
The French Onion Soup, however, was a small saving grace. Comforting and classic, it delivered as expected.
The eggplant fries were decent, offering a slight reprieve from the otherwise disappointing meal.
The Pickle Juice Martini, made with bottom-shelf vodka, was surprisingly tolerable, though unremarkable. 3/5 stars.
Where North 3rd truly shines is in its atmosphere. The walls adorned with vibrant paintings, the cozy, dim lighting, and the lively (if slightly loud) music created a setting that felt inviting and intimate. 5/5 stars.
At a total of $73 (including a 20% tip), the price felt steep and left me with regret, especially considering we barely touched much of the food and even had the chicken sandwich removed from the bill. Overall, we rate the experience a 2/5 — a place with great potential in its ambiance, but unfortunately let down by its food...

I recently used FSI to repair my fiberglass deck on the upper level of my 4 story townhouse. It serves as a roof for a bedroom below it and that bedrooms ceiling had cracked and finally started to leak after a heavy rain storm. FSI Restorations turned out to be a fantastic fiberglass deck repair service. They really know leaks. They found and repaired the deck leak (extensive fiberglass repair). They also found the doorway leading to the deck was a second source of leaks due to a bad door pan original installation. They replaced the original pan with a fiberglass one. They even found our master bath toilet was contributing to leaks via a failing toilet ring gastet and helped fix this even though it was not in the original scope of work. They installed copper flashing around the perimeter of the entire deck where there had been none. They come from a roofing background and are very experienced with leaks and what is needed to fix current leaks and help guard against new ones. They are very honest. They gave me an initial worse case quote. After starting the deck repair they found some of the plywood sheets showed no water damage and the area needing a rebuild and re fiberglass was smaller then anticipated. They proactively lowered the quote. They can even repair any interior walls or ceilings that were impacted by the leak.
My leaks are gone and the fiberglass deck looks better then original and no longer has any puddle areas. These repairs are expensive but my neighbors had a similar issue a few years ago. I ended up paying ariound what they did but got a much more thorough and extensive repair.

Read moreI have eaten here frequently, food is always great staff is usually slow but not enough for me to complain or disregard this restaurant. I am 8 1/2 months pregnant, craved wings it was a no brainer to choose north 3rd. It was 106 degrees and well when your pregnant it feels like hell so of course I preferred to be seated inside (which not one person was seated inside) I wasn’t even greeted I was simply asked are you vaccinated no hi how are you nothing. I answered no I am with child at this time she then proceeded to tell me ok you have to sit outside if you aren’t vaccinated which again is fine but I feel as though this is discrimination against those who can not get vaccinations or other health conditions. At 106 degrees 8 1/2 months pregnant sitting outside is not ideal. I asked to speak to a manger she replied he’s going to say no. I asked to speak to a manger not input on what you think he would say. I don’t know if the staffing hates their job or what the case is but either way you work in customer service in a pandemic it’s not what you say it’s how you say it and the tone of voice. Philadelphia has a mask mandate not a vaccination mandate it is the owners choice to require proof of vaccine and how are you ensuring vaccine cards are not fake? There is also a new variant in which there is no vaccine for so I am just confused as to the reasoning behind being vaccinated to sit indoors when everyone is at risk regardless of vaccine or not. I am also a small business owner in the neighborhood and regardless if this is your choice have better...
