Pizza Jawn definitely makes the best pizza in the Manayunk area, and I would say it's in the conversation for top 10 in Philadelphia. Go for the traditional round pie or the grandma style with a sesame seed base if you like a thicker crust. The sauce is great, but their dough is exceptional as I understand it is made in limited quantities daily. Margherita or regular cheese (New York) style toppings are enough to let this pizza stand out. Their space it pretty slick too. Murals on the outside, a large diagram of the Philly Special on the inside, and an edge-lit undulating ceiling. When it first opened it was nearly impossible to order due to its high demand, but that has calmed down a bit. You still need to order 2-3 days in advance from their website so they can organize their demand by order and timeslot. If you want to add to your order, I would also recommend the meatball sub The cheesesteak was not quite as impressive. It’s worth the hassle of ordering in advance and even traveling from other parts of the city for this pie. I have since moved away from the area but still drive a half hour for it. Dave Portnoy from Barstool Sports gave Pizza Jawn an 8.1, which you should know is worth writing home about.

I ordered To go. I was excited to try it out, but it did not meet expectations. The flavor of the sauce was good, the sausage and the pepperoni were also good. Crust was almost on point but too chewy, boderline tough. The crust looked like almost half the pizza about 3". I paid extra to add ingredients and the quantity added on my pizza was extremely reserved. The mushrooms were not cooked nor seasoned before, I know because part of the liquid on the pizza tasted like unsalted mushroom water, if there is such a thing. Also I like charred pizza, but not burnt. The sauce was a little bit watery towards the parts they actually added Veggies. In general; It was disappointing because in a wierd way I could see the potential or at least I tought so. But $26.00 for a pizza pie that simply did not deliver, especially for that amount.

At the time of writing this, and probably for the foreseeable future, Pizza Jawn pizza is a rare, coveted product AND experience. I first heard about Pizza Jawn during quarantine, shortly before the announcement of the brick and mortar store. From the day of the soft open, with lines wrapped up and down main street, we all knew it had to be amazing and we had to get some of our own! Securing a pizza via walk-in was difficult, and we frequently missed the sign-up link on Sunday nights, but finally managed to get a time slot this past week for a Cheese Detroit style pizza and a Pepperoni Round pizza. When trying a new pizza place, I like to go for basics that I can easily compare.

First - the service and building itself: I am so excited for when restrictions loosen and the Pizza Jawn restaurant has the option for in house seating. The art, the modern style, and the openness of the place so you can see the labor of love going into the pizzas in the kitchen is awesome. But the service - oh my gosh the service! When going to pick up our pizza, we were greeted by Ana who made us feel so welcome and sparked up great conversation. I went back the next day to pick up some tee shirts and she recognized me and asked about the pizza and the recent Flyers game. As someone who really feels connected to the neighborhood of Manayunk, I'm so happy to get to know new people who clearly care about it.

Next - The pizza. When the hype for something is so big, and when you wait awhile to try something new, it's understandable to set pretty high expectations. Sometimes you can set your expectations wildly too high, and even a good product won't meet them. This is not the case with Pizza Jawn. My expectations were admittedly through the roof... and then surpassed. The pepperoni on our round pizza was so perfectly cooked with just a little bit of crunch. It's thick, which I wasn't sure I'd like, but it ended up being AMAZING. The fluffiness of the Detroit pizza absolutely blew us away and is now my favorite pizza I have EVER tried. Above all, the sauce on these pizzas was to die for. It tastes so fresh, bakes so well, and ties the dough and cheese together perfectly. My boyfriend and I are both picky about sauces and don't always agree on what types of sauces we like on pizza, but this won us over. I don't know what David's secret is, but he's nailed it on every aspect of these pizzas.

Pizza Jawn was worth every minute and every penny to us, and we're so excited to have them so close in the neighborhood. We are looking forward to being long time...

First of all, this was my first experience at pizza jawn. All I knew going in is that I had seen a few articles online saying that it was good. We ordered a round hot jawn, a round white pizza with garlic spinach, and a pepperoni Detroit pie. I really think that overall this was the best pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life. I was awestruck to be honest. The structure of the dough was perfect, the sauce was on point, the toppings were quality, and I really like that each pie is unique and not perfectly uniform in terms of bubble quantity and bubble size. I’ve seen some of the other reviews on here naysaying different aspects of this pizza and of course pizza is personal and highly subjective but from a production standpoint this is about as close to perfect as you can get. You can see the artistry and love in this product if you know a thing or two about dough or pizza or cooking professionally. A lot of people don’t realize that dough is essentially alive and that many factors can have an effect on the result including things you might not think about like barometric pressure or water ph levels for example. With that said the best part about this pie is that each one is unique because his dough structure includes a mix of large bubbles which form a delicious char and smaller bubbles that keep the crust from being too dense or chewy. Anyone can make a pizza and a lot of places do that and that’s fine. This is something special. This man’s entire business model is designed around the science of proper dough making and I wish that a lot of the negative review makers would appreciate that it is an artisanal product done in a way that may not be great for everyone’s scheduling needs but it is exactly what you would do if your aim is to produce...

Absolutely fantastic pizza in our neighborhood.

Ordering was a breeze online (we needed it for a Friday night small gathering, so ordered the previous Friday). The only thing I would say about the process is that the website said the link would be posted at 8 pm, and it actually went up a few minutes before that, which put some people who were waiting til 8 to look at a disadvantage. But I happened to check a little ahead of 8 so we were all set for our desired time and pizza.

First, the Grandma pizza. WOW. That crust- so thick and flavorful w/ sesame seed bottom. The tomato sauce is substantial with sizeable chunks of tomato in it. We did the pepperoni and honey combination and it was delightful. I have had a lot of pizza over the years but none like this. Would order again in a heartbeat. It feeds a lot of people- at least 4 hungry, 6 w/ normal appetites.

We also got a round Margherita which was probably the best Margherita we have ever tried. This one had the thinnest crust, great balance of cheese / tomato / basil. Wonderful flavor. We have leftovers of both pizzas to last a while.

Pickup and payment were smooth as well. Would suggest posting Venmo name on website for ease.

Thank you for truly delicious pizza!...
