I'm writing this review because there is literally 2 competing pizza restaurants right next to each other on the same street so why not review them both on quick slices of pizza. So there's Mike's Pizza vs Pizzeria L'Angolo for the best slice of PLAIN pizza. My take? If u have a good plain slice then the toppings would just be a major bonus. Usually when u have a lot of quanity u lose quality. Not at L'Angolos. L'Angolos slices are bigger. They are cheaper. The sauce is better. The cheese is better. They do have an equal crunch. Yet the crust is better at L'Angolos as well. You can taste the oven more at Mikes. If Im hungry....I'm going to L'Angolos for sure. I'll post pics of both slices and the prices I paid for them. The one on the Left is Mike's which looks more desirable to me because it says...there's pizza sauce under the cheese for sure. The picture to the right is L'Angolos who doesn't show much sauce but actually has more. Here's to both restaurants, DONT BE STINGY on the sauce. Mike's needs to add a lot more and a better quality and L'Angolos...just needs a little more for me. Why? Because it tastes so good

Best pizza in Philly. For those who are not aware, there was a staple on main st in Manayunk named Bella Trattoria which served rustic authentic Italian pasta and Pizza. The owner of Pizzeria L’Angolo is the former head chef and owner of Bella. This pizza place has all the highest standards. The chef even makes his own sausage for the pizza! The pizza margarita has an intense flavor, the garlic knots are the same as Bella’s and you will not find better calamari anywhere. I know you think this is just another pizza joint and it might look like that from the outside, but if you try this, it will be hard to beat. We drove here from Montgomeryville and it was outstanding. Staff was super friendly. Owner is a great guy. Cares about his food with passion. And it’s super clean. Highly recommend!!

I stopped by Pizzeria L'Angolo with moderate expectations and left with mixed feelings. The wings were decent, but nothing to write home about, understandably so. Overall, for what they were I'd purchase them again. However, I was perplexed by the calzone. I'm not sure if it's their standard operating procedure, but mine was incredibly well done - to the point of being kinda burnt. I'm talking crunchy, crispy edges leaving a slight burnt taste to permeate throughout. Maybe I just got a dud, or perhaps that's their signature style? Either way, I'd love some clarification from the team at L'Angolo. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their calzones? I'm disappointed because I've heard nothing but good things!

I recently visited and I was thoroughly impressed with the experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere and the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked pizza hit me. The décor has a cozy, authentic vibe that makes you feel right at home.

Now, onto the food. The pizza was absolutely fantastic. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside, exactly how a pizza crust should be. The sauce was rich and flavorful, with just the right balance of sweetness and tanginess. They offer a variety of toppings, all of which tasted fresh, especially the generous portions of fresh I say FRESH and the vibrant basil.

I opted for their margarita option and it was a slice of heaven. Each bite was loaded with flavor, and the combination of tomato and mozzarella really set it apart. They also have a great selection of sides—I tried the garlic knots, which were soft, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. Overall powerful flavor 10/10...

I had a taste for good pizza (not that greesy cheap stuff) and I decided to try a pizza place in Manayunk (L'Angolo) that I have driven by on so many occassions for the first time. I walked in and was greeted properly by the staff. They are friendly. They said "you are going to enjoy this pizza" and even the owner who identified himself as "a chef and not just a pizza maker" said "this is top pizza". I was still hesitant to believe it. But when I got home and took one BITE, I was like yes...thank you Jesus....that pizza was so good! Perfect blend of sauce and cheese and I love sauce more than cheese.. I ordered and pepperoni and sausage pizza...the meats were so tasty! I could not believe it. This is certainly one of the best pizza places in Philadelphia. And they have good sandwiches I hear. So this is now my go to pizza place. I will be back often. Great...
