This place is very expensive. I had a sausage pizza ($19.00). An order of Calamari ($17.00) and a soda ($4.00). That's $40.00 before tax and tip. The place was very inviting and very empty when I went there at 1 on a Friday afternoon. I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately. Sunny was my server. I started off with the calamari which came with a nice warm side of marinara. It was perfect. I love the shishito peppers that were mixed in. I haven't seen this done at t0o many places. It added a mild degree of heat and the presentation was beautiful. I wound up getting the sausage pizza. The Aglio Bianco caught my eye--garlic, mozzarella, and Sicilian oregano so I wll try that next time. The desert menu was limited. Nothing chocolate so I knew I would be passing. I must say, The artisans who were creating the pizzas in the open kitchen wee taking great pride with their craft. They worked as a team preparing the pies, they stocked and cleaned the work area. Everything was aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I noticed the beautiful brick oven was not crowded with pies. And while the restaurant was not crowded--sparsely occupied in fact--the artisan who was moving the pies around in the oven seemed deeply focused and attentive to the crust she was turning. The pie looks like it is about 12 inches. While I stated the price was high for my liking, the quality seemed to justify the cost. The pie was perfect. The ends were not overly burnt. The crust was supple with a nice bend when folding. The toppings were not watery and did not slide off of the pie. The sausage had a nice roasted garlicky flavor. The cheese was yummy, I would love to have these sausage for my scrambled eggs in the morning, I was looking to have some leftovers but this pizza was just too good. Sunny was attentive but not overbearing. I would definitely make this my special treat spot for gourmet high quality BO Pizza. Its too far off the beaten path to make this a regular foodie spot within my Philly arsenal. Stella is a 10 across the boards and I had a wonderful experience...
Read moreIf you love pizza and you don’t go to Pizzeria Stella in Philly, then, let’s be real—you don’t love pizza! 🍕 Located in the heart of Headhouse Square, Stella is the kind of place that takes pizza from “just dinner” to an experience you’ll be raving about long after the last slice. With its cozy, inviting atmosphere, brick oven, and mouthwatering smells, this spot is a pizza lover’s dream.
The menu is all about simplicity and quality, and it shows in every single bite. Their wood-fired pizzas come out with the perfect thin, crispy-yet-chewy crust that you can only get from a real brick oven. My personal favorite? The Tartufo, topped with black truffle, egg, and fontina—it’s earthy, gooey, and just the right amount of indulgent. 🤤 If you’re a fan of classic flavors, the Margherita is perfection with its fresh mozzarella, basil, and that rich San Marzano tomato sauce. Each pizza is a work of art, crafted with the freshest ingredients and an attention to detail that’s hard to find.
Beyond pizza, Stella also serves up some delicious small plates and salads. The arancini (crispy risotto balls) are out of this world, and their fresh salads are a great complement to the rich, cheesy goodness of the pizzas. And don’t forget to save room for dessert—their gelato is creamy, flavorful, and the perfect sweet ending.
The service here is friendly and laid-back, making it a spot where you can just relax, savor each slice, and enjoy the vibe. 🍷 Plus, with both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s a great year-round destination. If you’re in Philly and haven’t been to Stella, you’re seriously missing out on one of the city’s best pizza joints. Pizzeria Stella isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a love letter to pizza that’s waiting for...
Read moreLet me start off by saying the food is excellent. Great pizza! The rice balls are amazing! Doughnuts definitely skip. Being a Star restaurant I figured they would match buddakan’s dip sum doughnuts which are amazing but not even close. Bland and dry I wound up taking a cpl bite and throwing away. They need better dessert options. Reason for a 3 star review was that I was highly annoyed when I received a glass of sangria in a 4-6 oz rocks glass packed with ice. Which means I received about 2-3oz of actual sangria. I’ve never seen that in my life. They’re always served in a huge wine glass or pint glass. Either the bartender or the manager has no clue on which glassware is appropriate for which drink. By my 3rd one I was disgusted and asked if I could have a glass without ice. The server made sure to inform me that the glass would only be less than 1/2 way filled due to not having ice in it. What a disgrace! Sangria has things mixed in it such as juices and purées and you refuse to give me more than 3oz of it? That’s crazy to me and a complete rip off. A glass of wine should contain 6oz I know been bartending for 32 years. I know a rip off when I spot one. Do better Stella! What a disgrace!! In the picture I have the glass next to the short stirring straw to measure the size. It pisses me off to take advantage like this and the drink was $14 🙄😱 if you’re going to charge $14 for a drink make sure you actually give me a drink not a sample sip. Serve your cocktails in...
