We visited Sang Kee Noodle House for a birthday dinner and left feeling underwhelmed. It doesn’t measure up to Sang Kee Peking Duck House in Chinatown. The food here is just average, portions are smaller, and the prices are slightly higher. Service was lackluster. The only real advantage is that the location offers easier parking.
Overall Ratings:
Restaurant: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Food: 3/5 Parking: Street Parking (more convenient than Chinatown)
Atmosphere:
I liked the decor—clean, open, and modern—but the menu is quite limited. Unlike the Chinatown location, there’s no Peking duck on display, and the variety just isn't there.
Service:
Nothing notable. We ordered, they brought the food. The staff didn’t seem particularly attentive or engaged. Overall, the experience felt pretty forgettable.
What We Ordered:
-House Special Noodle: Just okay. The flavor was weak and didn’t stand out. -Braised Beef Flank Noodle: Also just okay. The broth lacked depth and had a strange aftertaste.
Neither noodle dish came with wontons—you have to pay extra for those, along with other typical add-ons. It felt like everything that would normally be included came with an extra charge.
Final Thoughts:
I probably wouldn’t come back. If I’m craving Sang Kee, I’ll stick to the Peking Duck House in Chinatown. Sure, parking there can be a hassle, but the food makes it...
Read moreOne of the best Chinese food I’ve had in years. The ambiance was superb, and the food was even better. We had a cold dish which started our feast, then there was duck soup from the bones of the Peking duck, then we had the duck with soft steamed buns, then we were served some vegetables with lotus root which acted as a palate cleanser, then we were served Chinese fatty pork, (don pur ro), then we had some lo mein, and salt fish fried rice. We finally finished with black sesame dumplings with red sugar and ginger sauce. To was a great Chinese banquet meal!! Hue, thank you so much for an excellent memorable meal!!!!
Most of the food is authentic Chinese food. Not confusion food (fusion) food. Portions are large, food cooked well and really really tasty. We’re back in China. You round people stay away, we don’t want you watering down the great tastes of authentic...
Read moreWe had Sang Kee cater our wedding as part of the East Marries West banquet menu and we could not have asked for a better catering option! Hugh was very accommodating with us as the groom’s parents are vegetarian. The food was fantastic and some of our guests told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. The food came out fast and fresh so we had more than enough time for dancing at the end of the night. The best part of our experience was the servers – they were all incredibly kind and hospitable throughout the night. They helped with packing takeout boxes (as much as our guests wanted to keep eating, they were stuffed!), serving food to guests who weren’t as familiar with the cuisine, and even giving the bride an extra bottle of water as she was running around the room. We highly recommend Sang Kee for any...
