☕️ Everything Will Be Better with Coffee

as long as quality coffee exists, cold wet gray days don’t make for the severe downer that they could be. stopped here before walking to Center City. ordered a large Americano—carefully crafted by the barista who took my order. the coffee was smooth and deep in flavor…served super hot which is a necessity on those chilly sun-less days. the service was pleasant. tbh, if i didn’t have a lunch destination, i would’ve ordered one of the signature liege waffle which look good. the cafe / coffee shop has plenty of seating with a warm yet modern feel whether you’re working, studying, or just need a moment of respite from the din of life. look forward to stop here during warmer days!

I mean, sure. The waffles are great, the baked goods are really nice, the coffee is solid, yada yada.... I'm really here to talk about their special drink the Velvet Shakerato. The description said it was a double espresso shaken with creme, vanilla and some Aztec chocolate bitters and I was expecting a concentrated hot chocolate/mocha of sorts. What I received was a mind-blowing chilled drink that left me craving for more. Must try this and trust me, it'd be totally worth it! Really shows they've put a lot of effort into creating this drink and I absolutely loved it.

This is a coffee shop I find so close to reaching the top of the podium, the gold standard of café which I raise above the rest, yet at the same time, so far. I ordered a black single origin Colombian and a decaf cappuccino. The wait was maybe 3 minutes or under, which was nice. The drip was easily my favorite part of the whole experience, delicious in every way. Very clear flavor, very oily, with a strong body. 10/10, a must try if you’re in the area. The cappuccino was, by my definition, just a latte. Now I have nothing against lattes, and to be honest, it was a good latte, but a milk drink in a latte cup with only a thin line of foam, calling it a cappuccino seems a bit misleading (for the record, I tend to think of a cappuccino as a ratio of coffee to milk to foam, rather than a size). The decor was fine — not the highlight for me, but it did feel a bit like a large space with the style of a small one. I did like the way the menus were presented, and the little touches like that, but I still would have liked to see more things going on. What I would suggest is a rustic style of coffee posters/ paintings as an inexpensive way to fill space. The seating was nice and comfy, with spaces for working and for just drinking. Overall, a solid coffee spot which is great for a drink, but not the coziest atmosphere.

(Edited post to revise my language and show a more accurate representation of my feelings towards this shop. Would recommend strongly, just not my favorite...

Tried honey vanilla latte and mocha latter. Both delicious, both served with beautiful foam art sans lid- just the way I love so that I can see my coffee. Fast and very friendly service. Ordered the liege waffle with poached eggs, bacon, and cheese. It was delicious-my egg was perfectly poached. Quality ingredients, so much more than I've come to expect when eating out, and the waffle was not overly sweet. Maple drizzle around it for the sweet tooth. Commuters, professionals, and students came and went. Some stayed to study or chat, others were quickly on their way. It was a very easy 13 minute walk from Penn on spruce Street, for anyone who has to wait a few hours while a family member sees...
