For years I went to this family's pizzeria. First, before Vince's came into existence at the original location on the Roosevelt Blvd called Charlie's.
I lived on Grant Ave and was thrilled when I saw that a place called Vince's Pizzeria had opened on Grant Ave and actually saw Vince himself in the restaurant's window.
My family constantly went to the Grant location and was once again thrilled to find a new restaurant open up in Richboro, close to our house in Holland. Even when they had problems with defective ovens, when they first opened their Richboro location, I still went there frequently. The people working at the Grant Ave and Richboro locations got to know me by name.
In 2004, my immediate family left the area permanently, but whenever I came back to the Philadelphia are, I made sure to stop at Vince's.
I always considered Vince's Pizzeria my favorite pizza restaurant, until the experience I had on Monday, August 2 2021. On that day, my family of seven, all visiting from the west coast, decided to go to Vince's on that day. The hours listed on their website and front door were 4:00pm to 10:00pm. We drove all the way from Sesame Place to the restaurant and got there at five minutes before nine. When we walked into the restaurant a rude woman told us they would not serve us inside because it was too close to 9:00 and they were afraid we wouldn't be out by 10:00. This person suggested we order our pizzas to take out. When I said we were from out of town and we weren't close to our hotel rooms, she could care less.
Maybe this story won't move too many of you, especially if you like this restaurant, but this person will never set his foot in their...
Read moreFIRST TIME, LAST TIME. Walked 2 miles in 32° weather to try the pizza. I agree with another review, order crispy crust, otherwise, the dough was soft & mushy. I didn’t want to walk home with the pie so I sat down to eat a few slices. The rude waitress says, after I was eating my second slice, “You can’t eat your pie here and besides you’re sitting in a popular spot in our dining room.” I said, “I’m sorry but it’s my 1st time here and I didn’t see any sign that says one can’t sit down to eat a few slices?” Then I got up to get a cup of water. Same rude waitress said, “You’re not allowed to use the soda dispenser even for a cup of water.” I replied once again, “I’m so sorry but it’s my first time here”. There is No Sign that says, “Dine In Orders Only”. Besides, half of the tables were vacant. I agree with other posts who commented, “There is No Sign that says Cash Only”. I’ve got to believe every sale must ring up as: No Sale! There’s only one reason why it’s CASH ONLY. The pizza is So-So (where’s the cheese?) and there is NO friendly family and NO charming atmosphere. It’s a retail plain vanilla box. Even Burger King or McDonalds has more atmosphere. First time...
Read moreMike Garofalo (another poster on here) must have been constipated when he went to Vince's; that or he owns the other pizzeria that he's promoting. The "old" waitress is a very NICE lady. Sometimes there are younger girls, also nice. You'll get "old" too, buster. The pizza is delicious, especially in the NE Philly area. I lived in South Philly many years ago and I can say this pizza is very good. The cashiers are nice; sometimes it's the owner. So all that baloney this guy wrote, please disregard. Clearly he's the one with the problems. If you have that attitude in life, you're likely not going to like anything and no one will like you either. But I saw a few other people that gave negative comments, some legit (like them being busy or taking long sometimes, or cash only); other than that, everything there is fine. It's a pizzeria, not five star fine dining, and the pizza is good compared to a lot if other places. I'm guessing the lowering of stars are bc someone sending trolls over. They really don't deserve a low rating. If they did, I'd be the first...
