Stopped in for the first time in search of a Boston Creame Donut for my Wife. To our surprise there was one left. Also purchased a Sticky Bun as well. Fruit Tart caught my eye, so it had to come along as well... Best Cinnamon Roll with Pecans I'd ever had. My Wife gave her Boston Creame a thumbs up as well. .... Sigh 😔! The Fruit Tart was delicious, and both my wife and myself were pleasantly surprised by the bedded crunchy cookie. So surprised that we took we took out two children to get donuts the following morning. I just had to let them taste the (seemingly) healthiest pastry in the shoppe. The Fruit Tarts !!!
To my disappointment however my children did care much for them past the fruits on top. The bedded crunchy cookie had ran its course. Coming in at a sloppy, soggy, creame saturated last place.
All three of our Tarts were soggy. After trashing the half eaten leftovers. I went inside to make the kind young ladies aware of the day old Fruit Tarts. I was told that they were made fresh, but she was kind enough to check them for herself. "Yes they are soggy" she said to me, apologized. Yet offered no form of compensation for my purchases. I'd think, that at these prices. A complementary Glazed Donut would be such a kind gesture, to say the least. However there was none.
Went in this morning to get that BC, for my Wife, as well as a Cherry Cheesecake Cupcake. Got myself a pineapple upside down cake. Told the same young man who had first serviced me during my first visit. However although he apologized as well. Still no compensation, 😕 of any sort. However he might've snuck in a $1 off discount, without telling me 🤔.
Not sure if the bottom edge of the PUC was supposed to be burnt, but I ate it anyway. Made myself a large hot Moringa, turmeric , and black pepper tea to wash it down with. Took that burnt taste away almost instantly.
Oh well, I guess here in Phoenix. That's just how the cookie(s)...
Read moreBear with me for a moment. Readers of a certain age will recall that Sheriff Andy always asked Floyd the barber for a haircut that didn’t look like a haircut. I want great tasting fried dough that doesn’t taste like a grease-saturated sponge. THIS.IS.THE.ONE! At this tender age, I’m a bit of a bakery freak—this place is my new favorite! Taking over the legendary Karl’s Bakery in Sunnyslope, Dawn’s consistently creates magic with, among other things, their crullers, cinnamon rolls (maple frosted!!) and the remarkable apple fritters. It’s also a great place for all kinds of pasties, cookies, dessert cakes and rolls (poppyseed roll!). And, while I have not yet sampled the many kinds of fresh breads, my colleagues that have rave about them. Add to this really friendly service, great prices, convenient hours and loads of easy parking (I’m looking at you, Randy’s). While you won’t find frying pan-sized fritters or bacon-encrusted donuts, you will find a comprehensive selection of stunning delights offered at affordable prices by amiable folks. Welcome to the...
Read moreThe facility is clean, the young individuals who work here are very kind, knowledgeable and are quick at greeting every guest that walks in. Service is usually a 6 but Today unfortunately at around 8am I was not greeted by any staff member, the middle aged lady that was working in the back seemed to have an attitude, not too sure why but she doesn't need to be rude to a paying customer, especially right after purchasing the baked goods. As I was leaving I was looking at the cases and the middle aged lady working YELLS across the room "OKAY THANK YOU" why did she need to yell? We were the only 2 in the bakery. I purchase baked goods from this place weekly but I'll find a different local bakery to purchase from and to recommend to friends. The cannoli cake that they make has a liquorice taste and so do the cannolis that this place makes. The atmosphere was not inviting like how it...
