Last night my daughter and I decided to try a new restaurant and the choice just happen to be Gallo Blanco! Found hidden in a quaint neighborhood, it truly is a gem for both visitors and locals. My daughter and I both foodies with years of culinary experience, couldn’t wait to taste the flavors advertised on the menu. Immediately upon parking and walking inside, it smelled great. We were advised it was the wood burning they use to grill the meats. We already liked that addition. We decided to start with the bean and chorizo dip and chips. It came with red and green salsa on the side. The chips you could tell were made from home made corn tortillas! They were not your typical store bought thin chip and they even had a Smokey flavor to them. The little serving of salsa verde was the star though, very delicious! Overall a great appetizer. Next we ordered a variety of tacos because we wanted to experience the different meats and sauces. We ordered carne asada, pastor, fish and shrimp. Each taco, aside from the seafood based, you could tell were grilled with wood chips for you could definitely taste the depth of smoke and char. Not overly burned and seasoned just right! None of the meat was chewy and just very clean. The seafood tacos were delicious as well with plenty of fresh additions of citrus flavors and a bit of heat in the added pico de gallo. Lastly at the recommendation of our wonderful waitress, Tres Leche cake. My daughter bakes cakes of all kinds and was very eager to try this. On a hot day, this cool FRESH dessert hit the spot. It not only contains sweet condensed milk, but served on a bed of fruit surrounded by a delicate rim of sweet milk at the bottom. The whipped topping was also the perfect addition. We didn’t know it was happy hour and pleasantly surprised at how affordable all of the food was! The atmosphere was artistic yet cozy. It was nice to see local families eating with their kids and others dressed up getting a bite to eat before a show. We will definitely be back! My daughter cannot wait to order another Pastor taco because she says it the best one she has ever had in her life! Mother daughter date night was a success 💕🍽️ 🍰 🌮. Thanks Gallo Blanco.

Stepping into this restaurant felt like walking into a cozy coffeehouse. The dark, intimate atmosphere paired with the open, airy indoor layout set a calm and inviting tone. While we didn’t try the patio, it looked like a great spot to relax, complete with heaters for comfort. The service was exceptional. We arrived at just the right time on a quiet Saturday afternoon after 3 PM. No crowds, no noise—just a tranquil environment perfect for savoring a great meal. Now, the food? It was next level! I ordered the Bahn Mi Pork Belly and a Skinny Margarita, while my sister chose the Torta Pork Belly. Let me tell you, the Torta bread alone was an experience. Soft, buttery, and not at all crusty, it was the ideal canvas for the star of the dish: the pork belly. The pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, rich and tender with flavors that soaked effortlessly into the bread. This sandwich wasn’t just food—it was a culinary blessing that made me pause, reflect, and pray for the chef’s anointed hands. The Bahn Mi was equally incredible. The French bread, whether baked in-house or sourced from a bakery, struck the perfect balance between soft and slightly crusty. No painful stabs to the roof of your mouth here—just a flawless vessel for the pork belly and pickled veggies. The pickled vegetables added a tangy brightness that perfectly balanced the sweetness of the pork belly glaze, while the bread brought it all together. Every bite was harmonious. As for my Skinny Margarita, it hit just the right note. It was smooth and balanced—strong enough to feel the kick but not overwhelming. It’s the kind of drink you can savor slowly, letting the flavors shine. Overall, this brunch spot delivered on all fronts: atmosphere, service, and unforgettable food. Whether you’re in the mood for a quiet meal or just need some time to unwind with great flavors, this is the place to be. I’ll definitely be back for more!

1.6.24: I haven't been to Gallo in a few YEARS & was excited to be back. Their menu is so varied/rich & food has always been consistently delish. It was a Saturday night & they were busy. Our waitress was seriously lacking - we had questions and she flat out did not have answers! When I asked what the "fish of the day" was, she replied "Yes." Then I pressed on, "No, I mean what KIND of fish are you serving tonight? Like b/c every night there's a different one?" She just looked blank. I said, "Is it halibut?" I don't know why b/c that's what I was hoping?! She said "Yes." So I said "OK I'll have that. Does it come with vegetables or rice or ?" She said "Sure."

My family members ordered their regular dishes - they've been there more recently & knew what they wanted: Huevos Rancheros and Cortado Dos Salad (both vegetarian). Two minutes later, our server came back: "We don't have halibut tonight. It's another one." Waited a beat. No more information. "What is it then?" I asked. "It's a white fish," she said. "Like tilapia or ?" I pressed on. "No I think it's called rockfish," she said. "OK great I guess I'll get that," I answered. The whole scene was actually comical, like we were being pranked or something.

Here's the thing: waiting tables is hard af! I've done it. If I didn't know something, I just admitted it & then went & asked another server or my manager. I would even introduce myself to my tables: "Good evening. I'm totally new here & will do my best. What can I get you?" Prepare people for the fact that you are learning. As soon as people hear that, they tend to be super kind b/c everyone's been new at a job before. Finally, I was a horrible server! b/c it was too much to keep track of. I moved over to banquets where everyone eats the same thing for the most part, so no keeping track of a variety of food and beverage orders. I loved it b/c I didn't have to choreograph orders, it was labor intensive and I got to eat like a queen,

Anyway! My fish came with a side of something that was swimming in a very dark sauce, like mole. The side turned out to be mostly yucca & potatoes so starchy. I really wanted a healthy serving of green vegetables and ended up ordering another salad. Our server could have suggested that I order a side of steamed vegetables or a side salad, if she had been given training

So yeah while the food was good, the service was seriously lacking. Please have your servers shadow someone else and ask questions of their peers when they don't know what's being served. There's no reason to put people out on the floor if they're not ready. And the truth is not everyone's cut out to do this kind of...
