Where do I start....I write this review with a heavy heart as I use to be a big fan of Ikes until this most recent visit. I went in at 8:00pm(hour before closing) January 20th. There were two employees working the counter and only about two other customers before me waiting for their orders. After 25 minutes of waiting I started to hear another customer grumbling as to what was taking so long. After 30 minutes I also began to wonder what the hold up was. As I was standing up by the door patiently waiting and watching the Ikes employees make food I noticed the pan that they toast the food on fall onto the floor, the employee looked around the store (seeing if anyone saw) then proceeded to dunk the pan in water and continued to place food on it and put it back on the toaster belt. This was a bit disturbing to me as I tried to erase that out of my mind. Finally after 45 minutes of waiting (the last 15 just me being the only customer) I finally received my order which was two sandwiches with a side of fries and onion rings. As I walked out of Ikes I opened my order to find that the fries they gave me were less than a small handful and soggy, the onion rings were....well I don't even know how to describe them....The picture can tell the story, but if I had to describe I would say there wasn't even a whole onion ring in the bag but instead two halves of an extremely mushed and soggy onion ring....ARE YOU SERIOUS? It looked disgusting. I immediately went in to the store and showed them what I received. I just asked for them to take the onion rings and fries off the order and give me a refund. No one should ever pay over $10 for what they gave me. When I asked the employee why they looked like that the response I got was "well we typically give two onion rings with an order" I have been to Ikes many times and they have never given me only two onion rings. My response was "that's not even a whole onion ring, that's two halves of one, he looked at me with a blank stare and said "we were running low on them"....apparently so...after a few minutes of trying to give me a refund which he later told me he was not able to do, he asked if he could just give me more French fries....LOL I said "no way, I do not want more soggy fries I just want my money back". After that the other worker came up to me and told me this phrase and I kid you not, she said "Hello I am the manager here and we are currently on the phone with the manager to see what we can do for you"...I didn't quite know how to respond to that so I just asked what they could do so I could go home. They ended up giving me two free sandwich coupons....In all that being said I spent about an hour and a half of my night in Ikes all for what ended up being...
Read moreThe food and sandwiches are absolutely delicious here. I order for lunch every week and usually have the same employees great me and say hello. Today I went in to pick up my only order. They used to keep online orders behind the counter but they have since put them out. I have been told in the past to now grab my order. Today I went in to do that. Unfortunately several times in the past I have gotten home and my bag was missing chips or they were sold out and put a random flavor in the bag. So I always check before I leave, no biggie. I was doing this today and a new employee snatched the bag from my hand and scolded me like a child that I cannot open my bag. This was a busy lunch and I almost had a panic attack being scolded like a child in a restaurant I’ve never had a problem with before. She told me I needed to speak to her before grabbing my food. I am sorry you were busy and I did not want to interrupt. The bags are also facing out with the names easy for customers to read, implying you can grab your order. I said “no need to be rude ma’am sometimes I’ve gotten home and chips were missing.” She said “no we always put them in the bag”. So again, accusing me of being a liar. I understand she may be stressed being busy but no need to treat a stranger with such a blatant lack of respect. Such a disappointing feeling my to leave my favorite restaurant being treated so horribly for no reason. Like I said every other employee I’ve interacted with before this one has been so unbelievably nice. We make small talk and they’re friendly. So I am in shock I had an item snatched out of my hand in...
Read moreFirst time here! Love the concept, the warm sour dough, sandwich names, references back to my hometown of SF and that they have Tractor lemonade! But, missed on a few things: Staff missing a sense of urgency. The cashier was pleasant and helpful, but sandwich was about 12-15 minutes and there was only one person ahead of me. Tables and chairs were not wiped down and the one I sat at was tippy I finished my sandwich and was finishing my drink and looking at my phone. There was a customer waiting at the order spot for a good 5 minutes, only one staff visible with her back to the guest and sweeping! I mentioned “just so you know, you have a quest and I leaned into the walkway and tossed in a trash can my bag with the spent sandwich wrapper. She said,” I know” and I proceeded towards the bathroom to wash my hands…. She raised her voice after me to tell me there was a garbage out there and guests are allowed behind the counter! I didn’t go behind the counter. Somehow our service people have lost the sense of urgency, service...
