I apologize in advance, I would much prefer a positive review. Sunday, my wife and I were looking for a breakfast restaurant that offered a shrimp omelet or an egg/shrimp dish. We elected to call around and my wife was told from whomever picked up the phone (female) at La Piñata Mexican Food Restaurant, 7th Avenue, Phoenix, that they would be happy to replace any egg/meat dish with shrimp… so we elected to drive over there. We set in the outside covered area and there was no one else there (maybe that should have told us something). We were greeted with a smile from the female server and while inquiring about an egg/shrimp dish, she said they did not offer that. We mentioned we had just called and drove a reasonable distance and had spoken with someone that said they would add shrimp and she said she would send the Manager over. To our dismay the Manager (Tim) walked over literally tucking his shirt deeply in his pants as he approached out table – very unappetizing and extremely unprofessional. Anyway, we gracefully explained what had happened and he said he knew nothing about this and he needed to talk to the owner… wow, a Manager with responsibility and zero authority. He returned several minutes later stating that the owner said they would not honor what we had been told over the phone, no apologizes, no options!? You could tell this Manager was very insecure in his position and obvious not smart enough to recognize that the customer pays his paycheck. Sadly, we elected to leave and apparently the owner (which could have gotten out of his seat to at least help deescalate the situation, never bothered to walk over and say one word). While walking out, this frail, older Manager literally copped and attitude and said that the person we spoke to said she never spoke with me and that was correct – we told them from the beginning that my wife had called. That’s’ right this idiot was calling his customer a liar. Obviously they are not concerned about repeat business and is too myopic to realize it takes a lot more money to attract a new customer that maintain a current customer. Thankfully, there are lots of Mexican food restaurants that will actually appreciate our business. Go elsewhere, go to a place that genuinely appreciates your hard earned dollar. If I diverted one customer, and moved $1.00 to another establishment, I've taken the appropriate...
Read moreUpdate Went again last evening and as always could not have been more pleased with every aspect of this Dining choice! Kudos to entire staff and Mamangement! We had planned to eat here prior to going to the holiday Symphony at Symphony Hall.
However we didn't realize this was the same night as the APS Light Parade. The area was a mad house and La Pinata was very busy.
Due to the high level of top management ,standards and experience the wait was not long and the entire experience was, again, top notch. The food was as excellent as always, the service first rate and the wait for our dinner was no where near as excessive as we had feared it would be and we made it to a Symphony experience in plenty of time despite all the unintended barriers' we had encountered! We even had time to enjoy a couple adult beverages during our visit. An Incredible GEM I have known of La Pinata for over 22yrs, they advertise in our church bulletin, but had never ventured in. We decided to try this place out as many restaurants in the past 2 1/2 yrs have gone by the wayside with quality, price and service. We were quite impressed with La Pinata from our entry into the establishment. Very nice, comfortable ambiance and decor. Very relaxing. I was blown away, by the drink I convinced myself to try, the Chupacbra, "Not your Dads Rootbeer". It was as flavorful and unique as I have ever had in an adult beverage, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was outstanding in quality, flavor and presentation. Truly we have been 'cheating ourselves' out of a fine dining experience for years! La Pinata has earned a top position in our...
Read moreOur household Luvs Mexican food so when I found this restaurant on my map with great reviews we had to pay a visit. The outside of the building is deceiving, it's a bit shabby and in need of a face-lift. We were confused as to where the entrance was but after walking all the way around the building we found the entrance at the rear. The outside of the entrance doesn't appear to be inviting but after walking in you're greeted with a blast of warmth like you just stepped into your Nana's house. La Piñata's interior is lovely and it's welcoming decor makes you feel at home. It's an intimate restaurant that's clean, bright, warm and beautifully decorated with splashes of colors. We were greeted by a beautiful hostess who was very friendly and treated us as if we were regulars even though it was our first visit. I'm also happy to report the bathrooms were very well maintained and decorated as well. We were seated at the bar due to the restaurant being quite busy. The bartender was super friendly and his upbeat demeanor was contagious. The drinks ordered were delicious and our bartender was very attentive and prompt serving us throughout the evening. The menu has many options including a child's menu for your little ones. My husband ordered Tio Pancho's Pollo Con Queso dish and I ordered the Ranchero Burro dish, both meals were absolutely delicious and very much worth the drive. From the pleasant staff, promt service, delicious food and the lovely environment we can see why this little restaurant is a favorite for many. Don't be discouraged by the exterior, with this little gem looks are deceiving and La Piñata is now a...
