This is my first experience with Salvadorian food in PHX and I was excited. We came here on recommendation and I honestly was let down. The food I ordered was not made correct but even then the food was not very good. I ordered the spicy for two dollars more and I asked for Habanero but it came as jalapenos. It was super filling though. I had a Popusa and it didn't live up to what I thought it would be. I had an horchata but remember it is Salvadorean food and not Mexican. It's not at all like the one in the Mexican places. I wish I had asked to taste it beforehand. The fruit drink was good though. I recommend if you are familiar with this food to go but it's just not for me. They also had no AC and there was just fans going. It's too hot for this and we were rushed out because they close the dining area at 830pm and we arrived at about 8pm.

I've been here a few times to eat but the last 2 visits my family and I experienced extremely long wait times and poor customer service from the waitress and servers. We showed up just as they opened the doors on a Sunday morning, along with a few others waiting. The waitress had an attitude and didn't speak any English so the language barrier made it difficult to communicate any questions. I've tried giving this place more than one opportunity to improve their service. The food is great but it's not really worth the long wait and rudeness from the waitress. Once they serve you that's it. You have to chase them down if you want a refill on anything.

It's unfortunate that this place has such great food because the service is absolutely horrendous. I looked at the bad reviews on Google but I like to try every place once and give them the benefit of the doubt but man the reviews were right. I also witnessed two tables get up and leave before they even got asked if they wanted something to drink because they took way too long to even be asked. If you're okay with servers skipping over you, not asking if you want a refill and servers who don't listen this is your place. Otherwise, steer clear.

Be Aware ...... My husband and I with three children (12,13, baby )went out for dinner at El Salvadoreño Pupuseria on 75 th ave Thomas . We got there about 7 pm and sat ourselves down. Shortly after we were greeted by the waitress who took our order and then 15 minutes later brought our drinks. After about twenty minutes ANOTHER lady brought us SOME pupusas One each since they didn't have our whole order ready. My husband and I ordered two pupusas each for all of us and three tamales, plus two orders of platanos ( total of 8 pupusas) so we ate that then the rest of our order came MINUS the tamales. We also had to inform the “waitress”that we had no silverware. Each step of the way here was like pulling teeth. The waitress forgot the tamales and we were a few bites of finishing our food she never came around and we had to get her attention again. We were eating our food like in increments. Ridicoulous. She then brought the rest of our order out a few minutes later . Which was the tamales. We were done after that and had to get her att again to get the bill when she brought over the bill it said 51.19 as the total then down below in big Written ink letter it said 10.00 tip and 61.19 was now our total! My husband paid it but I did ask the lady on our way out where it said they were adding the tip in she said down below in the back of the menu. She then said oh if you want I can change that to a different amount. For the quality and amount of service it would not have been $10! So Im warning you all about this place . A $10 tip for nothing! It was like we were begging them for everything and at their mercy. We even had to point out that we had no silverware to eat with lol! They are clueless in the waitressing department here yet want a tip. They’re lucky we didn’t walk out. There are plenty of other decent pupuserias that know how to deal with families and servicing the customers. This used to be a nice option for us besides our other favorite restaurant in Scottsdale to take the family. But the 30 min drive out here to just be ignored and then insulted after we ate with a $10 tip THEY added on, no way. Also the time we went the restaurant was not busy.

This review is not for the one in the mall. It looks like some one used the photos of the other business...

I took my 11yo son here because pupusas are one of his favorite foods and a friend recommended me this restaurant. Food was good, UNFORTUNATELY I CAN'T SAID THE SAME THING OF THE WAY THAT THEY TREATED US. We got sit fast and the waiter got our order, but while we were waiting for our food I noticed that to the other tables they gave them chips and salsa, including a couple that got there after us and were sitting next to us, all tables had chips except ours, the waiter brought our drinks but didn't ask if we need something else as they were doing it to other tables, I asked to another waiter to talk with the manager, she came and I asked her if there was a reason why they didn't serve us chips like the rest of their customers, she said she didn't know why that happen and she would send us some chips, but that didn't fix the problem, we got our chips and later when the waiter brought our food she looked that we didn't started eating and it was when she realized that they didn't bring us the forks, knives or napkins ( like they did to the others customers since they got sit)... In that moment I felt that maybe they treated us like that because I wasn't wearing brand clothes or makeup like the rest of the customers ( and they thought that I didn't have money to give them a good tip), but when I open this app I read that I am not the only one who had a bad experience with the customer service of this...

If I could give this place a zero star, I would. My husband and I frequent this place, however, today was our last day dining here. We ordered our food which were basic orders of pupusas combos, nothing extravagant. But after waiting about 40-45 mins, our food was still not ready. When I asked the Areli (waitress) on the status of our food, she informed us that our pupusas were just placed on the griddle top (40-45 mins after ordering). To make matters worse, we heard the cooks in the kitchen having loud conversations, which is extremely unprofessional. Eventough we had waited over 40 mins no one bothered offering an apology nor explanation. So I asked for the managers name and phone number, however, their contact info was bluntly denied to me. You may imagine how hungry and annoyed we were, so we had to choice but to walk away and dine at a different Salvadorian restaurant. Overall, we're extremely disappointed with their slow service and their customer service to how they handled the situation. I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends and family. Unless, you have all the time in the world to wait...
