Whataburger — Restaurant in Phoenix

When first recommended this place by my brother's co-worker, I had reservations (in my heart, not the restaurant). I had never heard anything good come from people who had oft visited this establishment; however, venturing forth myself would be the only way to quench my curiosity. Alas, I resolved to take the plunge, and muster the strength to deny negative presuppositions in order to ground my beliefs and feelings in objective reality. I will give my thoughts on a few key categories that I deem important in the overall experience.

Environment After parking, I made my way to the clearly labeled entrance of the establishment. Upon my arrival, my senses were immediately met with the familiarity of a typical burger joint: Laid-back yet seemingly friendly employees, the smell of burger grease ready to wreak havoc on my digestive intestines, expected seating arrangements, and restroom placement. Overall: 3/5

Ordering Process While browsing the menu, I was displeased at the font size of available options. As someone in their mid-20s, I found it difficult to stand near the register and comfortably read and ask questions about the items on the menu. Thankfully, the cashier, who waited quite patiently with me, was kind and knowledgeable enough to answer questions and provide information about the various options. I settled on the Double Meat Whataburger, which is a classic from what I hear. Taking a copy of my receipt after a successful payment, I looked for a place to sit and await my meal. Overall: 4/5

Food Now for the moment most people really want to know about. The moment that Mr. Burton and Mr. Dobson worked hard to try and perfect: The Eating Experience. This, unfortunately, was the most disappointing factor of my time here. At first glance and first grasp of the burger, it seemed like everything was coming together splendidly. The weight of the food was to my liking, and the wrapped presentation was average or slightly above. When opening the burger casing, however, my heart winced ever so slightly. The ingredients weren't pleasantly aligned in the form of the burger, the meat looked kind of sad, and the bun wrinkled. At this point, I was regretting listening to the advice of my brother's co-worker. I took a bite, and my spirit was elevated slightly because the taste was better than the looks. Personally, I do enjoy the taste of mustard and onion on a burger, and that's what I seemed to get when devouring this meal. The flavor worked decently well together with the other ingredients, and it was over in a minute or so. After finishing, I thought about the other ways I could have spent the $6, and felt a bit of longing for a different burger because of the price-taste comparison. If what I was provided was $4 or so, I think I would rate it a bit higher given the price to quality ratio. Overall: 2/5

Conclusion These are my thoughts on my experience. Overall, I am not regretting my decision. My curiosity was met with a bit of disappointment in regard to the Food category, but the Environment and the Ordering Process was on par with what was expected.

Terrible drive through service. 1st when I asked the cashier to repeat my order back to me before going to the window he was so hesitant and furious that he repeated it back so fast I am sure he hardly could understand his own words. When I got to the window I got one plastic bag with 3 individual bags inside. One was missing medium fries and I told him. He asked to look at my receipt which I gladly handed him. He said it's not on your receipt so that will be $2.49 for a medium french fry. I had just had my card run for $21 and he asked for my card again. I said I wouldn't mind if you put that at your expense for this hassle as I did order it at the speaker. Prior to this he tried to hand me a second, large plastic bag with my 2 large drinks inside! Who does that! I said please remove those sodas that are sideways and spilling and give them to me NOT in a bag please. He did so with a huge attitude. After all this I get home which I live 2 minutes away, and all 3 burgers were cold and appeared to be overloaded with onions. We had to heat up all of our food. The French fries were very cold and had a texture that tells you the potatoes were sitting out forever. The worse service and food I've ever had there. We visit here 3 times a week and this will surely be our last visit. Before I even drove off after I said thank you, I went to ask for napkins to be put in the bag and the young kid working shut the window on me. I sat there and honked lightly to get his attention and he refused to open the window again to see what I needed. Terrible. I will take this experience to the highest level management in this stores district. I would like to recognize one employee here who always delivers incredible service which is a much older gentleman who usually works late nights. He is a manager based on his name tag. He is always pleasant, the food is actually FRESH when he takes our order and he is ALWAYS friendly, smiling and gives great customer service. Lastly, I got sick from the cheeseburger within 30 minutes. If I am still throwing up tomorrow this will definitely go further...

By far the best fast food restaurant I have ever experienced.

I will try to explain everything down below but I want to give the biggest shout-out to JaHeim and Linnea, they are by far my favorite employees who works for this company. They are tentative, respectful and knowledgable ontop of remembering both mine and my SO orders to a T, even better then me when I try to pick up food for my SO and I. (I hope I have not misspelled your name JaHeim and if you read this and it's wrong, I'm sorry!)

4/5 Food Taste This is high because the taste is very good. To be honest we go here several times a week and end up getting our usual. Its consitant and tasty. There is only 1 star from perfect because of my own bias towards not always wanting just a burger and not really liking their salad menu.

4/5 Price You do get more burger, but to be fair and honest the cost is a little more due to this. It can become pricey on the sense of fast food. There are cheaper options but they are not as large or as filling. I do remove a star just because of the difference in a competitive standpoint and it being fast food does make it something that many see as something easy and cheap.

5/5 Customer Service By far the best place for customer service. They do their very best everytime. We have never had an issue when it comes to their polite manner or their tone. Everytime happy to help and even trying to make sure they have your order as perfect as possible. We have had 2 incorrect orders but we have gone there for well over a years time at least twice a week so that is to be expected and when we have come and explained the issue we have never had felt disrespected or not had the issue corrected. Everytime the item in question being redone and trying to compensate for the issue that initially happened.
