Read moreI tried Desert Island Eatery twice while I was in town visiting. The first time I tried their jerk shrimp. It wasn't too spicy which was perfect for me. I had so much food I had enough for 2 more meals. The cherry on top was their Johnny cakes (sweet fried bread). I was so upset when I realized I had eaten the last one! I had to go again before I left. This time I went for dessert. I ordered their Island Delight which is Johnny cakes topped with spiced apples. It came out piping hot. I literally sat in my car to eat the first one. I couldn't resist. It smelled amazing! I love the fact that they have vegan options! Although I'm pescatarian I do not eat dairy. Vegan dishes are my safe space for that. I wasn't sure if this place was open at first but you call ahead and place an order. You can either ring the door bell for your food or opt to do curbside. I believe you can even do delivery as well. When I called both times they were professional, patient, and very kind. Not to mention BLACK OWNED!!! I love it! Now ranked one of my favorite places to...
Read moreI am so happy we came and checked this place out! We were nearby on our way to one of our favorite vegan spots when I decided to look up “vegan near me” to see if maybe there was a new option that looked good. The moment I saw photos of the food I knew this place was going to be good. We headed right over and from the moment we walked it, the island vibes were there. Talk about a laid back atmosphere with the most gorgeous decor to match. The restaurant is family owned by a beautiful couple and their very well behaved children. They helped us pick our food as first timers, and we ordered the BBQ Tofu, the potato chickpea curry, a pineapple ginger limeade beverage, with a Johnny cake covered in apple chutney for dessert. This place blew my socks off. Amazing flavors in every single item. The cabbage was perfectly cooked as well. We will definitely return, next time with our 6 year old. I’m sure he will be ordering the vegan Mac for us all to enjoy. Thank you so much for the amazing food...
