Oh, what a divine gastronomic journey I experienced at Desert Island Eatery in Phoenix! This hidden gem has truly stolen my heart with their mouthwatering delights. Allow me to share my delightful experience with their remarkable dishes: the Jerk Chicken over red bean and rice with cabbage and the Ox Tail over rice and cabbage.

From the moment I walked into the cozy ambiance of Desert Island Eatery, I knew I was in for a treat. The friendly and attentive staff warmly welcomed me, creating an inviting atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home. The menu presented an enticing range of options, but I couldn't resist trying their highly recommended Jerk Chicken and Ox Tail.

The Jerk Chicken over red bean and rice with cabbage was a plate of perfection. The succulent, tender chicken was infused with the tantalizing flavors of the Caribbean. The jerk seasoning had just the right balance of spices, offering a harmonious blend of heat and aromatic richness. The red bean and rice provided a hearty and satisfying base, while the cabbage added a refreshing crunch. Each bite was an explosion of flavors, leaving me craving for more.

Now, let's talk about the Ox Tail over rice and cabbage—an absolute delight for any meat lover. The oxtail was cooked to perfection, with the meat falling off the bone effortlessly. The rich, hearty gravy that accompanied the dish was packed with robust flavors that danced on my taste buds. The rice, perfectly cooked, soaked up the flavorful juices, and the cabbage added a delightful touch of freshness. It was a symphony of flavors that left me speechless.

The portion sizes at Desert Island Eatery were generous, ensuring that I left with a satisfied belly and a happy heart. The attention to detail in the presentation of each dish was impressive, showcasing the chef's dedication to both taste and aesthetics. The vibrant colors and enticing aromas only heightened my anticipation and made the experience all the more enjoyable.

In addition to the exceptional food and delightful service, the prices at Desert Island Eatery were surprisingly reasonable. I found the value for money to be exceptional, considering the high quality of ingredients and the skillful execution of each dish.

If you're in Phoenix and seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure, do yourself a favor and visit Desert Island Eatery. Their Jerk Chicken over red bean and rice with cabbage and their Ox Tail over rice and cabbage are absolute must-tries. Prepare to be transported to the Caribbean with each delectable bite. Desert Island Eatery has undoubtedly earned its place as one of my favorite dining spots in the city, and I cannot wait to return for another...

I tried Desert Island Eatery twice while I was in town visiting. The first time I tried their jerk shrimp. It wasn't too spicy which was perfect for me. I had so much food I had enough for 2 more meals. The cherry on top was their Johnny cakes (sweet fried bread). I was so upset when I realized I had eaten the last one! I had to go again before I left. This time I went for dessert. I ordered their Island Delight which is Johnny cakes topped with spiced apples. It came out piping hot. I literally sat in my car to eat the first one. I couldn't resist. It smelled amazing! I love the fact that they have vegan options! Although I'm pescatarian I do not eat dairy. Vegan dishes are my safe space for that. I wasn't sure if this place was open at first but you call ahead and place an order. You can either ring the door bell for your food or opt to do curbside. I believe you can even do delivery as well. When I called both times they were professional, patient, and very kind. Not to mention BLACK OWNED!!! I love it! Now ranked one of my favorite places to...

I am so happy we came and checked this place out! We were nearby on our way to one of our favorite vegan spots when I decided to look up “vegan near me” to see if maybe there was a new option that looked good. The moment I saw photos of the food I knew this place was going to be good. We headed right over and from the moment we walked it, the island vibes were there. Talk about a laid back atmosphere with the most gorgeous decor to match. The restaurant is family owned by a beautiful couple and their very well behaved children. They helped us pick our food as first timers, and we ordered the BBQ Tofu, the potato chickpea curry, a pineapple ginger limeade beverage, with a Johnny cake covered in apple chutney for dessert. This place blew my socks off. Amazing flavors in every single item. The cabbage was perfectly cooked as well. We will definitely return, next time with our 6 year old. I’m sure he will be ordering the vegan Mac for us all to enjoy. Thank you so much for the amazing food...

I've never had *real* Caribbean food before, but this was a wonderful introduction to the cuisine. We tried the Jerk Chicken, BBQ chicken, Oxtail, Plantains, and Johnny Cakes. The Jerk seasoning was incredible with just the right spice and depth of flavor. The BBQ was a nice mild, sweet sauce that was seasoned super well. The Oxtail was super tender and flavorful, although the sauce was just a tad too salty. I really enjoyed the texture of both the meat/fat and the sauce. The rice was cooked perfectly and I surprisingly enjoyed the cabbage on the side. Plantains were fine and we really liked the light sweetness and fried texture of the Johnny Cakes. Highly recommend this spot for people who haven't tried the cuisine and I'm certain longtime enjoyers of Caribbean will love the food as well as its family-ran.

We had the curry goat with rice and peas, jerk chicken with yellow rice, plantains, guava limeade and mango limeade. Truly all 10/10 delicious - the chicken was fall off the bone tender, the curry was so flavorful, and the cabbage was perfect. We were obsessed with the plantains because they were the perfect combo of crispy on the outside and custardy on the inside and I would get a large next time because they’re just so good. We both had leftovers and with all the really serious ingredients and time put into making these dishes magic I think it’s priced really fairly. I hope they get their flowers and I can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu!
