I went here for lunch with friends. There were 6-7 of us. I hadn’t been in years. The last time I came was for dinner with my husband and he felt it was over priced. Fast forward 4-5 years; I believe there’s a new owner.
It was a bit busy when we arrived at 1pm. There seemed to be only one server/person waiting on tables, delivering the food, and cleaning tables. They seemed severely understaffed for a holiday (MLK Day).
We each ordered off the lunch menu. It’s not a bad deal- $17 for Tandoori chicken with basmati rice, a samosa, a very small cup of lintel soup, and naan. That was my order. Everyone else ordered something different.
One of my friends ordered a glass of wine before we ordered our food. Again, when we ordered our food, she reminded the waiter about the wine. Again, when he delivered the food, she reminded him about the wine. He finally brought the wine after we had been there about 40 minutes! He was obviously overwhelmed. He should have had help.
My tandoori chicken was a bit dry. The soup was a bit cold. My friends who ordered their meals “medium” spice heat were unable to eat their food because it was too spicy (this is how they usually order it). So, the meal itself was a disappointment.
This is a monthly get together for us, so we stayed and chatted for a while after we were done eating. However, the waiter never came to clear our dirty plates from the table. Even as we asked for the checks, the dirty dishes were there, and we had no room to sign our bills on the table. That is one of my friend’s pet peeves and she told the waiter that he should’ve have cleared the dishes a long time ago.
There’s an 8% tax, and 18% gratuity added to parties over 5 people. The total on my bill was $23+. I only drank water. It’s still not a bad deal, but it wasn’t that great of food, and the service was not up to par- so I’ll probably never go back. Oh, and my friends who ordered who ordered the wine was charged for 2 wines and had to ask to have one removed. I’m sure she’ll never be...

Read moreNice little food spot for Indian fare, tucked away in an unassuming location.
I went to London and had some of the best Indian food of life at a place called Dishoom.
This is the closest thing I've tasted to it since I came back.
The first time we were there, we had tandoori cheese naan, samosas, Chicken, Mahkani and The chicken Biryani.
It was so delicious and the flavors so intense we ate there again 3 times in the past month.
....but the repeat visits is where the rating comes into play.
Unfortunately, the experience is so hit or miss, that some days the food is SOOOOO good and others, it's not even worth the trip.
We went again yesterday and that'll be the last trip for us probably. Besides the fact that there was a fly at the bottom of my water glass, they have also minimized the amount of food they give out......which shouldn't be noticeable to us since we've only been going for a little while now.
For example, my husband and I ordered Mahkani and Tikka Masala yesterday. We've ordered these before and they came with generous large chunks of chicken and a bowl of rice for each meal.
We usually can't eat it all and leave with leftovers.
Yesterday, they brought out the meat and it was an obviously smaller portion that didn't fill the bowl. More sauce than anything, with tiny pieces of chicken that got lost in the one bowl of rice they made us share this time.
When I asked about the second bowl of rice, they said we only get one even though both meals come with rice included......
At almost 20 bucks per item, I want my own F-ing rice and the chicken I paid for
I'm disappointed because it turned into a...
