This Denny's location has always been a top-notch restaurant to go enjoy a meal at, and especially late night to overnight. The two female waitresses that work the late evenings into the early mornings are top-notch. Every time I have gone when these two young ladies are actively working on the floor, I know that the service will be out of this world! I have seen the two waitresses deal with some pretty and definitely pain in the butt customers that I seriously would have no problem in helping them out the door with a good stamp on their behind a remind them how not to act! That is the reason why I have put four stars for the atmosphere. It isn't because the employees did anything wrong. On the contrary it's due to some of the customers that were there on this particular evening. Now I will have to admit though that I haven't seen where to be blunt, but respectfully honest. It does seem like the upper management tries to schedule so few workers on nights that I've seen slamming with business from online orders to walk in carry out orders etc. And the workers are doing their best to pull as a team to get the job done, you end up having some of these customers that are in such a dang old Rush that had just sit there in my seat at the counter in sheer baffled confusion. I will definitely have to say that some weeks I've gone there three nights to the weekdays and a weekend night plus sometimes five nights of the week. Just a suggestion to the upper management it would be a good idea to schedule two cooks for the overnight because you're online orders get so overwhelming on that screen. My heart goes out to that kitchen crew including the two awesome waitresses because they try to pull together as a team. But honestly, at no point staff of the front of the house should have to go back into the kitchen and cook their orders. Which is a very easy fix you scheduled two Cooks on the overnight and you just give them a little extra if you have to send them home early or if you're calling them in. Overall though like I mentioned before the two awesome waitresses Makia and Willeishia truly do deserve both Applause for the many times I've seen them stay to help the other one out even when they're getting called by the upper management that one of them has to go, and because I've seen them turn around and go back there and try to learn from the Cooks. So that way they can continue to help out and keep the food flowing. These two are worth their weight in gold and it's really sad to see how overall the upper management or some of the select supervisors treat the employees. I don't know if this particular location is a franchise or corporate but if it wasn't for those employees that I've come across on the evening and the early mornings. I would be trying to find another Denny's to call the home store. Plus I hope some of the food delivery drivers and customers that go to that location would walk in with a little bit better happier attitudes and with the expectation that they might have to wait for their food because that location is popping. It would also be nice to see Denny's allowing customers that are going there to the location to eat or to place it to go order. Getting the opportunity to order some of their Mexican food dishes that for right now the Apparently only offer online. Unfortunately not all of us like to order things online and would prefer to better securely order and pay...
Read moreSo here’s the deal. Our one trip here was a disaster. Aside from one factor, the bus boy, Rob.
Three of us came in 10 minutes til 11pm. After an exhilarating night of miniature golf, some breakfast and dessert was exactly what we needed. What better place to get this than the “always faithful” Denny’s. Our hopes were misplaced.
After waiting in the lobby to be seated for 10 minutes and hearing the previous half hours drama on the mouths and faces of the staff we were ready for an experience. Once seated we then waited 10 more minutes for our waitress to come take our drink orders. Two sweet teas and a coffee.
In this time we learned that our waitress apparently offended another “regular” customer, an elderly gentleman, for something. Our waitress then came to take our orders. Two slices of cheesecake and an omelette with no cheese.
The drinks came back and the tea wasn’t good. It’s like it had been sitting in the pot for most of the day. It tasted old. Funny enough before we were could tell the waitress about it two other couples had already done so. We heard the staff try to decide if they should pour it out and then make a new pot. Yes of course you should. If a customer doesn’t like it and it tastes bad you should make a new pot.
Now this is what we’ve waited for. If you have made it this far then get ready. The reason this review has 2 stars. My man Rob. The busboy. He brought our silverware out to us, stared my wife straight in the eyes and said, “Hi, I’m Rob.” He waited 5 seconds and then turned around and walked away. Exactly what I wanted from that interaction. Good job Rob. Please give him a raise.
After this my omelette was delivered to a different table who sent it back for being the wrong order. Then the kitchen had to remake my omelette. 40 minutes after I ordered the omelette it came out, with cheese. I then ate part of my hash browns and just asked for the omelette to be taken off the ticket. It’s after midnight now. We never got fresh tea. My omelette was wrong and it had been 15 minutes since I had asked for the check. Our waitress finally came over to tell us the omelette was being taken off the ticket, but she didn’t have the ticket with her. 10 minutes later we hear the manager say that she should have already given us the ticket and she could take it off up front. 10 minutes after that we finally got our ticket and paid for our food.
Some information I forgot to point out at the beginning, there were only 5 tables of guests seated the whole night and 2 waitresses. This wasn’t a busy evening. All in all there seems to be a problem with management from the top down. How could I know this? Because all of the drama was loudly talked about in the main dining room where every guest could hear it. Nobody seemed to be aware of Denny’s standard operating procedures which could add some support and sustainability to the establishment.
The only shining light at this dim trip to Denny’s was Rob. The man. The...
Read moreUpdate January 11, 2024, Unfortunately we've been here way longer than expected. Denny's is the only thing available at night after 11pm so we are forced to use them. We order online, that's a joke because the website is so slow and messed up that it takes 30 to 45 minutes just to place an order for a cheese burger and nachos. The food is good for the most part but that's where it stops. We're always missing something or they are out of stuff but they don't tell you. So when we get back to the room to eat, we have to go back, then we're told they're out. Oh yeah, you never get reimbursed. If there's more than 3 occupied tables, they are freaking out saying "we're swamped" and tell you to come back for your order in another 30 minutes. I don't know how they stay in business. I can't wait to leave Lealman, St. Pete.
November 2024, We've been staying at the Red Roof Inn for two weeks so far and have eaten pick-up seven times from Dennys. Everything so far had been good, the day waitress is amazingly fabulous and the food has been tasty. However, the other night, our last pick-up order, on November 29th, 2023 was terrible. They forgot one of the milkshakes (we went back for it), the other was missing the whipped cream, both order's of french fries were ice cold, both burger patty's were hot but they crumbled apart and the onion rings were skimpy and tasteless. We couldn't eat any of it even though we tried to fix the burgers, they both just fell apart. We tried to heat up the french fries in the microwave but they were awful. All we had for dinner that night was a milkshake! We haven't ordered from them since. We don't want to waste our money on the chance that happens again. We've already spent almost $500.00 at Dennys. We will miss the awesome waitress on the day shift. She truly is a people person with a fantastic personality and attitude. She never let us down. Maybe we'll try again, but only during the day. Update: Everyone has a bad day so we tried again in the evening but it was even worse. The waitress gave our order to someone else, then she had our order remade but they were out of the pumpkin pie and pecan pie we ordered so she said she would give us 2 slices of cheesecake but when we opened our to go order there was no cheesecake. Thinking daytime is ok we ordered breakfast on Saturday but everything was ice cold, my coffee was missing and they were out of chocolate for the milkshakes and the waitress made strawberry instead of waiting to see what we wanted. The shakes were watery so we wasted $66.00. We always tip 15%-20%, even online for pick-up orders so why when there was only 20 people inside was the waitress complaining about being swamped and then failed to give us good service? That is our last order for Dennys. We went hungry again because everything was...
