Phở is one of those foods that is oftentimes more decent than mediocre, but if you have ever experienced really good Phở, it is divine...and I think it takes eating a lot of Phở to know the difference. I'm not Vietnamese, nor have I ever been to Vietnam, but I have cooked professionally for over 25 years, and I intensely study foods that I am passionate about.
There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in Pinellas County, and especially in Pinellas Park. I'm not here to criticize any of them, but most of the Phở I have eaten ranks between "extremely forgettable" and "you should be ashamed." Having said that, the Phở is Phở Kien Giang on 49th Street is that divine experience I was talking about. In the entire United States, there is only one other place, Phở Thành Restaurant off Camelback Road in Phoenix, that compares. It is so good, we reserve one night a week to eat it, and I never have to cook it again.
If you've never eaten Phở, eat it first here, and order the beef on the side so you can cook it in the broth yourself. If you love Phở, then this is your place. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and I assume the rest of the menu is good, as the place is packed every time we go, and not surprisingly many of them are Vietnamese.
We moved from saint Petersburg to Starkey Ranch in Odessa, and later to Wesley Chapel. WE STILL DRIVE TO PHO KIEN GIANG ONCE A WEEK MINIMUM FOR PHO. IT'S...
Read moreThis is one of the harder reviews I've done as I pride myself on finding hidden gems and this is one of them. In this case, the restaurant needs to know. The food was phenomenal...the best vietnamese I have had in FL so far. Great portions at a great price and incredibly fresh. The largest ditractor to my experience was the overall CLEANLINESS of the restaurant both inside and out. My wife says "I wouldnt come here if I wasnt with you" as we pull up to a litter-strewn parking lot. More junk, large litter as we walk up to the front door, and soggy toilet paper right at the entrance. The concrete is caked in residue of dried fluids of some sort and has not been cleaned in a long while. Inside the tables are clean however, dried fluid runs are on every wall including hoisin sauce dried and dripped down the wall where we sat; at least we know what was on our wall. This whole setting doesnt makes the disclaimer on the menu "raw meat, consume at your own risk" as something to disregard. I truly feel the restaurant has potential, but the lack of even SOME regard for hygeine comes off as lazy and very concerning for their overal investment in public health. I would go back for the food but only if they...
Read moreIf you're in Pinellas Park and craving exceptional Vietnamese cuisine, Pho Kein Gang is the place to go. This family-owned gem is a standout in the Tampa Bay Area, offering the best spring rolls, chicken wings, and pho you'll find anywhere around.
Their spring rolls are a true delight—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly crispy. The chicken wings are another highlight, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning. But the crown jewel of Pho Kein Gang is undoubtedly their pho. Rich, aromatic, and brimming with tender slices of beef and a savory broth, it's a dish that keeps you coming back for more.
Beyond the incredible food, the service at Pho Kein Gang is always top-notch. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel right at home. It's clear that they take pride in their work and genuinely care about their customers.
If you’re in the mood for a fantastic meal with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Pho Kein Gang should be at the top of your list. This family-run restaurant is a true treasure in the...
