It was our first time trying this restaurant, located at 10215 Park Road, Charlotte, NC, so we were excited. When we walked in, we noticed the decor was nice. It was better looking than most of the Mexican restaurants I've been to. We didn't get a pleasant greeting. It felt very "What are y'all doing here?" She wasn't rude or nasty, but it was just the look and vibe we got.
We were seated, and it took forever for a server to come and take our drink and appetizer orders. I could understand if the restaurant was busy, but it wasn't. There were only four tables with guests, so I couldn't understand why it took so long. Finally, the server whose name was Zoe came to the table to take our orders for drinks and appetizers. Not once did she apologize to us for the long wait. We just let it go because we were hungry.
We got our drinks and appetizers, and I must admit, they were good. We got martinis, sweet teas (they were out of lemonade--it was 12 noon), and water. We had chips, salsa, queso, and guac. They were all good. The guac needed a little seasoning, but it was good nonetheless. Zoe came back to the table and took our orders for our entrees.
We finished our appetizers and drinks and waited forever for our entrees. When Zoe finally brought them to us, there was another young lady with her who was presumably shadowing her. The constant looks she gave us, as if she didn't like us or as if we did something to her, was just not a good look or feeling. She didn't smile or anything. I don't know if it was a cultural thing, but it wasn't nice. We didn't say anything about it and just anticipated eating our food, which smelled amazing by the way. We all got the fajitas and noticed that all of our steaks, onions, and bell peppers were overly charred. We ate the food without ever mentioning it. We never addressed any issue the entire time we were there.
One thing I can say, Zoe seemed to be nice, but very out of touch with the table. She didn't monitor the table to notice when our drinks were low, so that she could bring refills. Upon finishing our entrees, she asked if we would like dessert. Only one of our party did. When Zoe took the dessert order, she never informed my family member that the dessert came with ice cream, and the ice cream was runny because it hadn't frozen despite being in the freezer. She just brought out the chocolate brownie/cake, and my family member asked her, per the menu, whether her dessert came with ice cream. Zoe told her it does, but she didn't bring her any ice cream because the ice cream wouldn't freeze in the freezer. We all felt that's something she should've conveyed at the time she took the dessert order. She brought out a bowl of ice cream on the side, and it wasn't frozen at all, just as Zoe said. We requested that the dessert be sent back or removed from the bill. Zoe stated she could see about discounting the dessert, but not removing it from the bill. We told her we wouldn't pay for it since the ice cream that came with it wasn't frozen. She then said she would comp the dessert because if my family member didn't eat it, and she removes it from the bill, it will just get thrown away. Again, Zoe was very friendly and she wasn't disrespectful at all. She had a warm smile and was very easy-going. So, I applaud her for that.
I plan on returning to give them another try because the food wasn't bad, just overly charred to the point that the steak looked like beef jerky, and the chicken was dry as sand. I may not return to that particular location, but I can visit one of the other locations they have, as this one isn't an...
Read moreWorst service I've ever experienced!! I had a party of 9 which I called in advance expecting 10 guest and they said they would accommodate us. When we arrived and were seated, they seated us in the very back of the restaurant by the bathrooms which felt off but we didn't complain about it. We put in our drink order and waited over 45 mins to get our drinks. Not only did we wait to long but there were multiple parties that arrived after us that received their drinks and food and we had nothing. When we questioned the waitress about the drinks she said, "This is my second day on the job and the bartender doesn't like me", she also stated "He said, they just have to wait".
This was the start of a awful experience. So we got our food (still no drinks) and one of the members of my party had chicken fajita style. The chicken he stated, "is rubbery" and asked the waitress could he switch the dish for another dish. The waitress went to get the manager and the manager acted as if she couldn't speak English so the waitress translated. The manager told him that no one else in the restaurant that night complained about the chicken and that they could make him something else but he would have to pay for both dishes. My guest stated he doesn't want to pay for something he can't eat but he would pay for another dish. The manager then said through the waitress that if he doesn't pay for it that she would call the police.
This situation escalated to threats of the authorities being called over a $16 plate of overcooked rubbery chicken that he only took one bite of. They took the full plate away and still charged him for the meal and added a 18% gratuity to his check.
I hate to say this, but this felt like a case of racism from the very moment we arrived. If you're black, please think before visiting this restaurant!
We were a group of Christians that just had a wonderful share in encouragement and thought we would finish the night with good food and drinks and that didn't happen.
The waitress apologized for our experience and I don't blame her but the establishment as a whole made us feel unwelcomed. That was my first and...
Read moreThis has to be the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Let me say, I have the patience of Job when it comes to dining out; specifically because I don’t want anyone doing anything to my food. This experience pushed me to my limits. I will NEVER go back to this establishment again.
The good: The chicken and steak were delicious. The salsa was pretty okay. The music was amazing! My piña colada was quite delicious as well.
The bad: After we were seated, we weren’t acknowledged so we had to call a waitress over to our table. She was very nice…at first. You could clearly tell one of the drinks we ordered was watered down. The waitress said she brought it right over to our table when it was fixed. When my friend brought it to the bar to have it replaced, the bartender basically threw the drink and got angry. At the end of the night the drink was still on the tab, which made no sense, as we had an ENTIRE conversation about what occurred when my friend tried to get her drink replaced with not only our waitress, but another waitress too! The complimentary chips seemed as if they placed leftover scraps, from other diners, into a basket and served them to us. The bean dip, I kid you not, smelled rancid. You could smell it as it was being brought to the table. We asked for different chips and more salsa and we were told there were no more of either. Color me surprised when a fresh batch of salsa and chips appeared after we pointed out that the queso and guacamole we ordered couldn’t be eaten without chips. When they were brought out we were told there were no more of either left. Moments later, chips and salsa were brought out to a nearby table. Our food was brought out to 1 person at a time, with a span of at least 10 minutes between each of us being served. Mind you a table seated diagonally across from us, who came in AFTER us, was served and done before any of our food was...
