It's a beautiful ambiance restaurant. Their food is also good and I used to be a regular customer. I was also ok with the cold behavior of 'poker faced' waiteresses as long as I was getting economically priced good food in their lunch menu. Couple of months ago, I went for lunch with my office coworker and I ordered my standard 'Hibachi Vegetable' ($8.00) + water. When we received the bill, we felt it was higher than we usually paid so we enquired about it. The waiteress said the cost of food has gone up so are the prices. I was still not convinced as I didn't notice change of price in the menu but we had to rush back to work so left it there. After reaching office, I checked their menu again and realized they had charged me the price for 'Hibachi Dinner' ($12.00) that includes miso soup, salad, noodles with vegetables and different kinds of dressing however in 'Hibachi Lunch', they serve only miso soup and noodles with vegetables. I called the restaurant and they argued saying I must have been served bigger portion (Ha!). At last they agreed to either give me credit for my next visit or give cash back. This experience left a bitter taste and I didn't go back as we've plenty of options of good restaurants in this area. So BE CAUTIOUS to check your bill especially during lunch hour when you're in a rush to head...
Read moreEdit: I was going through something where I thought I was a a pithy food critic. This should have been 5 stars, so I'm updating it. I'll leave my annoyingly pretentious original review below to remind myself that everyone has a worst piece of writing, and mine is this review.
Service is efficient, prompt, and polite, and the room is quiet for its size. Only 1 television is a plus, but 0 would be even better (I like restaurants that want me to focus on the food, but that isn't part of my rating).
I ordered the chicken katsu appetizer and the combo platter (Alaskan, California, and spicy tuna rolls). The chicken katsu was crispy and the sauce was delicious, however the bird was a bit tough (read: overcooked) for eating with chopsticks. The sushi were all inside out style rolls, all skimpy on the rice. Again the flavors were on point, but the texture of the tuna and salmon (both minced instead of sliced for some reason) came across as mush, and the Alaskan roll seemed to be mostly avocado. Veggies were fresh, especially the avocado (yum!), and the nori had a nice texture, but lacked the toasty flavor I look for.
Perhaps I ordered sushi at a place that is more focused on other things, but nonetheless I was...
Read moreMidori sushi is just average. The food was okay but nothing special; same with the service--okay but nothing special. The servers were not unfriendly but they were not attentive. The miso soup was fine, the salad was drowning in dressing. While I appreciate ginger carrot dressing, it was poured on so heavy-handedly that the greens were wilted. We also had fried dumplings, which were pretty good. For our main course we had hibachi steak. I asked for medium rare but it was cooked a little too much. I did enjoy the dipping sauces that came with it: one was gingery, the other was a spicy mustard. The veggies were pretty good as well. To be fair, neither of us had the sushi, which may be great for all I know. And to add one more note: I have never been to a fine restaurant (this is not a sports bar, mind you) that had a television on while diners are trying to converse. While we were eating, there was a news story about cleaning litter boxes! Not Midori's fault, but a TV is out of place in a...
