Passed by this place many times only to find out they opened just a few days ago. My family wanted to try a new restaurant as opposed to our usual spots so we gave it a go. Service was great— the people greeted us at the door with smiles and were very quick to answer any questions we had. Ambiance was nice so I’d recommend for a date night if you’re trying to impress. If you’re just a family looking for a no frills dining experience, this might not be the place for you.
We ordered the salmon and ottoyee don and the mackarel with rice. When we saw our food come out, we were pretty disappointed by the portions of the food. It’s definitely not a stand alone meal so expect to order more food if you get the dons. The mackerel is technically a side, but we asked for a side of rice. The taste of the food is pretty good, but nothing to rave about. I’d probably come back to try the sushis on the menu.
To the owners of the restaurant, I’d look to increase the portions of the dons— or at least making it cheaper than what you’re charging for. Thirteen dollars for a small bowl feels a little much. Towards the end of our meal we saw the staff food and was pretty envious of the size of their dons and they also had fried shrimp heads!! I found myself wishing that that was on the menu so I could order it as well haha. Nonetheless, I hope you have a prosperous opening week. Please keep the reviews in mind for your upcoming...
Read moreI have been curious about this restaurant since before it opened since my family frequented the Chinese restaurant that preceded it. Strictly first impressions led me to think that it was going to be a higher end, fine dining style restaurant because of the photos on google and how it looked from the outside and its logo. However, I was surprised to see that it is rather modest in both its ambiance and the food they provide. The flavors are more reminiscent of something cooked within a humble Japanese household, nothing really sticks out like a high end culinary experience. But that’s what gives this place its best feature, the fact that it is rather simple and inviting. The servers were very kind, efficient and polite. The one gripe I have is that the serving sizes are deceptively small. You’re likely to order more than one or two items for yourself. One might have a problem with their prices because of the serving size but I found it somewhat reasonable considering fast food ain’t really cheap nowadays either.
So if you are walking starry eyed with the expectation of nothing less that the greatest Japanese culinary experience of your life, then you are guaranteed to be disappointed. But if you’re just looking for a quick bite, with an inviting ambiance, in a simple but charming place… then this might be the place for you
I recommend the torched beef sushi dish, and the...
Read moreThe food overall tasted pretty good, nothing special except for their mayo based sauce, portions are deceptively small. Ordered the Roasted Salmon Don, Cheese Grilled Shrimp, Sushi, and Eel Rice box. My favorite were the Salmon dishes/sushi and Cheese Grilled Shrimp. When you look at the menu you expect the don to be big, but it’s deceptively small, wish there was more rice and salmon etc. Cheese Grilled Shrimp was the best, it was cheesy, has a grilled flavor and the shrimp had good texture. Eel rice box was mediocre: eel could be more fresh and flavorful. Sushi tasted good especially the ones with mayo sauce and sushi that were toasted, shrimp sushi tasted okay. It’s the first time I’ve had cheese on sushi, I don’t mind it but definitely...
