0 stars if possible, when this place first opened a few years back it had some excellent management there was a lady in charge that ran the place really well. I would go to Brick House every Friday for drinks with co-workers or friends. In the past year the place has degraded tremendously. I would not even waste my time giving them a shot.
I never post reviews because I understand every restaurant has it's bad days but I will post my past two experiences.
Quick Note on food and appearance: The food is ok for a first timer I would give it a 5/10, it's bar food nothing special. On appearance the place used to look fresh and clean but now you can't walk through the restaurant without your feet sticking to the floor and smelling a stink odor in the air.
Last year my family was in town for a wedding a few days early, there isn't much to do around Piscataway so I took them to Brick House, it was about 20 of us on a long table and we were eating and drinking, not acting out since we had mothers and children at the table and the manager a tall middle-age white male with a bit of a gut kept hovering over our table. I heard him keep asking the waiter about how much we were ordering and that he kept asking her how we were going to pay. As if we needed security and someone to watch over us. Food took forever, came out cold, my cousin and I split the tab and left a 40% tip on a $900+ dollar table because she was a good sport for having to handle so many people but the manager continued to give us dirty looks and we heard him say how happy he was that we left when we were walking out.
2nd experience was this past April 2019, a group of friends and myself were back in town there were maybe 7 of us and we decided to go to Brick House. As we entered the host sat us and said a waiter will be with us shortly. Mind you the place was empty and there wasn't much going on it was the middle of the day. We waited 40 minutes, no one came by to ask us if we needed a drink, to apologize for the delay, to let us know what was taking so long. Instead they all stood by the host stand and watched us without saying a word. After 45 minutes passed without a single word from the host, server, or manager we got up and walked out.
Do not waste your time with this establishment there are many wonderful places to eat around that area and get a drink, you will be severely disappointed if you choose to spend your time and money at this "restaurant".
Lastly, I will say this if you do choose to go to Brick House, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. Alot of the bartenders there have been there for a while and they are good people. They've been around since the place started and when I used to frequent the bar and they as well feel the same sentiments towards current management.
Note: This is my only review on a restaurant, once again I reiterate that all restaurants may have their bad days as I used to work in one but this is extremely...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went out to dinner Friday night [4-18-25], and chose Brick House, as we've been here before because the food, service, and atmosphere has always been fantastic. We didn't realize that night would be an outlier to previous experiences.
We arrived around 6pm, and were seated pretty quickly, which was the fastest - and only - service we had received all night. They weren't slammed, but there were a few other tables besides us.
Almost 10 minutes passed, we were about to leave, our waiter finally came by. He had short box braids, a small hat on (like a beanie) with a slim build. He never gave us his name. He took our food and drink order - and we also requested two glasses of water as our table had none. He said, "Ok," and that was the last time we heard from him. He never returned to our table.
At some point while we were waiting, another table was sat near us, with the same waiter we had. He took their order, and not only did they receive their drinks, they also received glasses of water, while we remained sat at an empty table.
We tried to get our waiter's attention - and we did make eye contact multiple times - then he would just walk past us.
The host wandered around at some point, checking tables and trying to look busy with his iPad; he checked on every table but ours. We were still sitting at an empty table. We did make eye contact with him, but he subsequently ignored us as well.
Finally at around 6:40-6:45, the couple that came in after us received their food. We decided we were done.
We got up to leave our empty table, my boyfriend told the host we were leaving, he just said, "ok." He never asked how our service or dinner was, but we figured he knew we didn't receive any. He had to have known, he ignored us, too.
This was our date night. Our ritual is dinner and a movie, and this is one of our favorite places to have dinner. We can't figure out what we did that was so wrong that we were ignored for 40 minutes. Even the table that came after us and received their food and drinks while we were still sat at an empty table was looking at us.
I don't understand why this happened, and I'm honestly offended at this point. This was never our experience before, in fact the complete opposite.
I can't justify giving them another chance as it was a complete waste of our time, and the staff made us feel very unwelcome. Go elsewhere if you're looking to have a...
Read moreI recently revisited Brick House Tavern + Tap after a hiatus of several years, hoping to relive some fond memories of my previous visits. This time around, I ordered the sirloin steak and salmon accompanied by the daily soup special. While my overall experience was satisfactory, there were a couple of notable shortcomings that prevented it from being outstanding.
Let's start with the positives. The flavors of the sirloin steak and salmon were commendable, showcasing the chef's skill in preparing these classic dishes. The steak, however slightly overcooked, still had a pleasing taste. The salmon, on the other hand, was cooked to perfection, tender and moist with a delightful seasoning.
While the culinary aspects were generally enjoyable, I must highlight an unfortunate observation. Upon receiving my plate, I noticed some black "dot" on it, which was quite off-putting. I understand that mistakes can happen in any establishment, but this oversight did detract from the overall dining experience. I didn't try any dessert as a result.
Moving on to the service, the staff was polite and attentive, ensuring that my needs were promptly addressed. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations. Despite the slight mishap with the dirty plate, the service staff handled the situation well and swiftly replaced it, which I appreciated.
Regarding the ambiance, Brick House Tavern + Tap still maintains its welcoming atmosphere, with a lively and bustling crowd. The restaurant has a distinctive charm, complemented by its rustic decor and comfortable indoor & outdoor seating arrangements. It is a pleasant place to unwind and enjoy a meal with friends or family.
In conclusion, my recent visit to Brick House Tavern + Tap left me with mixed feelings. While the flavors of the sirloin steak and salmon were satisfying, the unfortunate presence of black dot on my plate was disappointing. The service was commendable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff. The overall ambiance of the restaurant remains appealing and inviting. With some attention to detail and consistency, Brick House Tavern + Tap has the potential to provide an exceptional dining experience.
