Long time customer of this establishment, both in the restaurant and at their pizza place.
Was just at Manninos in November for dinner when my father in law was in from out of town and we very much enjoyed our meal and experience.
My experience for the first time having lunch at Manninos was quite different and very disappointing. My family joined my husband and I for a 10:00 am show at Pitman theatre, followed by lunch at Manninos. I had made a lunch reservation at Manninos Italiana for Dec 14th, 12:00 noon for six (6) people, the week after thanksgiving.
When we arrived, we were the only people to arrive in the restaurant. There were no other patrons in the restaurant and it was completely empty. We placed our order and within 15 minutes two more people with two children arrived, and then four women had also arrived. We sat there and waited for our food for approximately 30-35 minutes and they brought the appetizers out about 15 minutes later they brought out my granddaughter’s lunch. My granddaughter ate her lunch and then it wasn’t until almost another 40 minutes later that they brought out everyone else’s entrées so we were there almost an hour and a half before we had our lunch. Please note I thought thry had forgotten about us and had to ask the waitress when our food would be coming out?
Needless to say it was now running late for us so we couldn’t really eat our food and I ended up having my meal packaged up to go and a lot of people didn’t even finish their plate and my granddaughter was getting tired and she wanted to leave. The shrimp salad was a tossed salad with 3 frozen fried shrimp on top! It was a truly a horrible experience and then I realized what was happening.
The cook and staff were busy working on an upcoming party that was coming in at 1:30 pm so there was little regard or service for the current patrons in the establishment. The lunch food was sub par and appeared to be frozen processed food microwaved. I ordered salmon and what I ended up getting was fettuccine and some tomato sauce with chunks of salmon in it where I thought I was actually getting a piece of salmon. My son ordered crab bisque (it was not Bisque by any stretch of the imagination), and it was more like vegetable soup with some shredded crab. So not only was the menu quite deceiving, but the service was exceptionally poor. I was so embarrassed that I brought my family here and it ruined the day. Will will never return here for lunch or...
Read moreFirst we get seated just outside the mens and womens bathroom, leaving us in a high traffic area, which in an of itself is a huge health hazzard. I asked to be moved, and was, orherwise I would have walked out. Second, we waited one hour just to order, leaving us to think that, either they are understaffed, incompetent, or just not punctual. The food arrives and nothing comes with anything, everything has a separate cost, which is fine, if it's made well. The food is highly salty, and the cappellini that's hidden under the entre is not aldente, but rather overcooked! The waitress comes back to check on you only 5 mins after she serves you, and then you don't see her again, because she sits down and counts her tips. If you have a coupon, don't bring it on holidays, the head Spanish waiter there, will stick his neck out to get in your face and very sarcastically tell you, "we dont accept this on holidays!" With no apology or remorse. Then another will tune in to say, that its written on the front door. First of all, who reads a front door when entering a fine Italian restaurant? Clearly, and legally, the coupon should say it on there, and it DIDN'T! As an italian food critic, and chef, who has also grown up in the italian food buisiness and industry, I can honestly say, this place is beyond lacking, the prices are insanely overpriced, the staff is rude, and only cares about money, and gives special attention to large groups of people with reservations, rather than small ones with reservations, such as mine. The food is more than lacking and the table by the bathroom is a serious health hazzard. If they put more care into the clean, kind, courteous service, they might get away with the terrible food, but in a whole, this place is horrible, and as an italian food professional myself, and this being my first time there, I am embarrassed for them, and hope they read this and improve, which is why I am posting this! Sometimes some people have to learn the hard way, that when you work in the service of food, and people,...
Read moreWe came here for a casual dinner. The restaurant was full, very busy. Seemed like 1 or 2 waitress/waiters, who took the orders w many servers, bringing out the food and cleaning tables. Give or take 40 tables so they were very busy. We waited approximately 15 to 20 minutes just to have the waiter come to us for our drink orders. Another few minutes and they arrived by one of the servers along w toasted baguettes & olive oil w some spices blended in. Another few minutes, our waiter came for our order. One of us had a crock of crab bisque, ($14.95). We were going to have wine but looking around it seemed that they only sold full bottles which explained the high prices on menu, but limited one from just a glass. 25 minutes waiting for our entrees w out even a server let alone our waiter to ask if we needed refills and more bread. I finally flagged down a server. She said she would accommodate us after finishing setting the nearby table which she did, another 10 minutes. Finally after another 15 to 20 minutes more we were served our entrees. We waited almost a full hour. The Bolinase sauce lacked meat. Many tomatoes, spices, but little meat to speak of. My Sunday special was good, not the best meatballs I ever had but good. The sausage was excellent, sauce was good as well. The chicken Parmesan our other guest had was very good, crispy thin, battered chicken topped w sauce and cheese, side of spaghetti. No coffee or dessert so just the bill. To say the least, I was shocked to see it was almost $140 w the upcharge for credit card use I have had much better meals in other South Jersey restaurants for much less & many more w complete meals w apps, wine, dessert, & coffee for the same price. I do not think I'll be back here anytime soon. 2 maybe 3 on a...
