I was in town to see a show up a the Peterson Events Center and was walking down the road to find a place for dinner. I'm very happy that I stopped at Oishii Bento for dinner.
I ordered the Beef Bulgogi bowl and it was delicious. The serving size was plentiful and to be honest I wasn't able to finish everything in my bowl. That is an excellent problem to have! My friend got a spicy pork bowl and that also looked fantastic.
From a pandemic POV it is asked that customers wear a mask and the woman working the cash register was wearing a mask. The register is behind plexiglass and the only thing really exposed to a customer is the credit card reader. We didn't eat inside because there were tables setup outside, so we chose to eat there.
Next time I am up in Pittsburgh for a show at the Peterson Event Center I'll be back for sure. The bento...
Read moreOishii Bento is the best Korean / Japanese restaurant in the city, hands down. I was introduced to it recently when my son and his wife visited from overseas and they chose the restaurant based on its menu. I have been there countless times since, and now I am finding excuses to go to Oakland from my home in the South Hills just to eat at there. The owner is gracious and helpful, and offered to order for me, which was a wonderful treat since he chose items I had never eaten. I have had most of the items on the menu and I have never been disappointed. Each is just superb: the items fresh and the spices perfectly done. I recommend this restaurant without reservation, and it is a must for all of us who live in the Pittsburgh area. It is well worth the trip, and you will not be disappointed. Do NOT pass up this...

Even the gyoza were clearly pre-fried and then refried - disgusting. They seem to think that adding tons of garlic to the bulgogi will distract patrons from the cheap quality teeny tiny pieces of "beef" they use. Maybe huge quantities of sticky rice are supposed to make me feel better about paying $10 for such a crappy lunch. Perhaps the Styrofoam container of 100% iceberg lettuce that they're calling salad is what makes the bento box a good value - not. Pathetic... After I scraped the food into the trash, I noticed a lot of grease where the bulgogi had...
