Newly opened on East Carson Street, Capozoli’s Trattoria is the cutest Italian restaurant to hit the South Side! Located in the former Cucina Vitale space, this fresh chapter is co-owned by the sweetest husband-and-wife duo—fittingly named after their family name, Capozoli. The space is cozy and intimate, so a reservation is definitely recommended. Bonus: it's BYOB! Their menu may be small, but that just makes the decision easier (even though I don’t think you could go wrong with anything here!). You're welcomed with warm bread and oil—a lovely start. We ordered the bruschetta: crispy focaccia topped with whipped ricotta, garlic, oven-roasted tomatoes, balsamic reduction, and fresh basil. A true masterpiece. For mains, the Pasta Primavera was bursting with flavor—spring pea emulsion, bucatini, asparagus tips, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, and basil. I added the chicken and WOW—hand-breaded, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. I’m already planning my return just for that chicken. We also tried the show-stopping 40-layer lasagna, featuring ricotta béchamel, San Marzano sauce, and Parmigiano. Absolutely delicious and beautifully plated. Although the dessert menu looked incredible, we were too full this time... just another reason to go back soon. Capozoli’s is a gem where great food and heartfelt neighborhood vibes...
Read morePittsburgh’s dining scene has gained a true gem with this new addition, a restaurant that manages to feel both fresh and timeless. The ambience is warm and inviting—intimate enough to be cozy, yet vibrant with the energy of an open kitchen where the chef’s talent is on full display. Watching dishes come to life only enhances the experience, underscoring the care and precision behind every plate.
The menu is as thoughtful as it is delicious. On my visits, the chicken parmigiana was executed with perfect balance—crispy, tender, and deeply flavorful—while a special of stuffed rigatoni showcased both creativity and restraint, delivering richness without excess. Even the supporting players, from crisp salads to well-conceived appetizers, reflect an attention to detail that elevates the entire meal.
Equally noteworthy is the service: attentive, gracious, and genuinely welcoming. The staff’s warmth makes each guest feel valued, a quality that transforms dining into an experience rather than a transaction.
Having visited twice already, I can confidently say this is a restaurant destined to become a staple in Pittsburgh’s culinary landscape. It is a place where craft, hospitality, and atmosphere converge—a rare find that leaves you...
Read moreI'm so glad we managed to snag a table at this place. The restaurant is small and cozy, the service attentive and the food delicious. We had the parmesan beignets and they were light, soft and flavorful. Not heavily crunchy or fried like you might think. My husband had the vegetable ravioli and it was plated beautifully. I had spaghetti pomodoro which came as a very large portion and tasted lovely.
It was so good we ordered dessert. The tiramisu was the best I've had since Italy and my husband had the frozen Limoncello which was somehow not too sweet and the texture was perfect. No crunchy Popsicle texture in a bowl here!
This place is also family friendly. As parents to a toddler we were so glad to find a restaurant where we could have an early dinner but still feel like we were some place special. When we arrived Irina asked if we needed a booster seat, brought out crayons and a coloring page, served my toddler water in a plastic cup with lid and straw, and immediately listed the children's menu (chicken fingers or pasta with red sauce or butter).
We managed to get a table at the last minute on a weekday but there are only 8 tables so I would definitely book ahead next time to ensure...
