Cup-Ka-Joe — Restaurant in Pittsburgh

I'm stunned by how bad the coffee is here. Only two shots of espresso in a large latte, a bad sign that cost cutting comes before quality. The drip coffee was awful, it tasted as if it had been brewed yesterday and was just sitting on the burner since then. The were were no other customers in the place but the three tables in reach of a power outlet were so sticky with syrup and gunk that I asked for a rag to wash one of them off. All that and the WiFi was nonfunctional. I ended up walking out and leaving my barely-sipped coffee behind, which I've never done in any of the three dozen or so coffee shops I've visited in my life. At least the place was nicely decorated, the cream and sugar table was well-stocked, and the one staff person was very pleasant. Still, that could never make up for undrinkable coffee, unusable tables, and broken wi-fi. Just skip it and go across the street to...

The choices offered were almost overwhelming-- pastries, fruit, bottled drinks, condiments, photos of Smoothies and Latte creations (not to mention the artwork hanging around for sale—which was pretty cool.) But I couldn’t help questioning how awesome my order would taste because their talents would have to be stretched over all the variety offered. Their Iced Coffee was just okay. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. Slightly watered down with no original flavor. But it did its work of keeping me cook and caffeinated. Same goes with the latte minus the watered down part. I come here often and they're always great. Very good coffee (not my favorite coffee in Pittsburgh but definitely solid). Their employees are always really friendly and helpful. I also appreciate that they open at 6am. It's a really nice, quiet atmosphere - perfect for getting work done, studying, writing, etc. And they have a lot of tables so there's usually something open. I particularly enjoy the little nook by the windows in the back corner of the store. I'm always really happy when I can get a spot there. Thanks for existing Cup...
