Hastings location... The food was very good and the atmosphere is nice, but I was disappointed because I called before going there to ask if their patio is dog friendly. I was told that as long as my dog was on a leash and well behaved, she could sit on the patio. If they would have said no, it would not have been an issue. We would have left her at home, but we were excited to take her with us today.
The hostess held and petted our puppy before adding us to the list. I received a text that our table was ready, so I came back to be seated. A bearded man who I assume is the manager was whispering with the girls about us having a dog. Apparently dogs actually are not allowed. Instead of letting us know that, they just whispered in front of us about us and eventually sat us without saying anything about it. I was already uncomfortable with how it was handled, and our daughter picked up on it as well. She asked the server if our dog was allowed, and the server said no. She added that she isn't in the business of kicking people out though, as if I took it upon myself to sneak my puppy in or something. It would have been better received if the manager would have just talked to us.
We also didn't appreciate being ignored for 20 minutes with no drinks or even an acknowledgment of our existence because of the "shift change " per our server.
We will most likely return (without the dog) but I would recommend adding some information about pets to the website for this location, since it's on a trail. I felt bad for the young woman who accidentally gave us the misinformation, and have no negative feelings or comments about anyone involved. Mistakes happen, but this could have been handled better without making me feel so...
Read moreI ordered the Babes on Bikes burger and it was truly terrible - and it was because of incompetence in addition to bad ingredients. I’ve cooked in a lot of restaurants and bars for years. I’ve screwed up a lot of orders so I’m patient, I cut a lot of slack and eat what I get, but this burger was a travesty. And we were the only people there, it wasn’t a rush or anything.
It was supposed to come with avocado - it had one thin slice of pre-frozen avocado the size of a quarter. Like it was comical how small this slice of slimy avocado was
It was supposed to have bbq sauce - the avocado completely obscured the chipotle aioli they put on instead. There was maybe 1/8tsp. The entire bun except one square centimeter was completely bone dry. There wasn’t even oil on the grill when they toasted it.
It was supposed to come with bacon - it had one small charred slice. Not great, but whatever.
I ordered it cooked medium (i was surprised to have the option since I haven’t in the past there) and it was totally gray, not even a slight hint of pink and dry as an old sponge. If I had to guess, it say it was cooked long before the order and tossed in a warmer.
The bland, unseasoned patty was also a full half inch smaller than the bun in all directions.
When I say it was the worst hamburger I’ve ever eaten, I mean it.
The beer was also flat and tasted like dirty lines.
I used to love otb, but maybe the expansions have taken their toll on the quality. I’m...
Read moreI will first say that I rarely write restaurant reviews because I am not a picky eater - I eat most food I order even if it's not a great dish. My family and I have been to OTB at the North Park boathouse several times. We enjoy the outdoor seating and the view of the lake. However, I continue to be disappointed of the food. One time I ordered the BLT which is supposed to have a fried egg on it. The cook forgot the fried egg. I have had a burger 3 different times and only once was it cooked as requested, medium. One time it was so close to raw that a friend asked if I was actually going to eat it. Another time it was over cooked. The first time I ordered the fish taco it was enjoyable, with the fish a little crispy and the sauce and topping flavorable. The second time completely the opposite. My daughter didn't eat all of her tacos for the same reasons. The OTB food is average at best and very inconsistent. And don't rely on their NO WAIT phone app. I checked it and the app said "seating now". We made the 5 minute drive there and were told it was 1 to 1½ hour wait. Another time I went there ahead of my family to get on their wait list and was told it would be a 20 to 30 minute wait. I ordered a beer which took 5 minutes and I was notified on my phone that my table was ready. So there I am with a table but no family since I was told the wait would be longer....
