This cafe truly is a hidden gem. Every time I stop by, I'm surprised that it isn't bustling. The folks I've talked with, Andrew and Jorge, treat coffee as an art. They are passionate and ambitious: Andrew was named 2025 StarChefs Rust Belt Rising Star and Jorge competes in the World AeroPress Championship. Moreover, they are intimately knowledgeable about every aspect of the coffee supply chain and preparation, from the farms where beans are sourced to every piece of equipment they use. Their creativity is phenomenal; on the summer menu is a drink that combines cold brew, orange soda, guava, and caramel. I lived in New York City and I don't think any of my favorite coffee shops there ever had such an inventive combination. It's a great place to study or do work, with plenty of spacious tables and outlets. The music creates a calm and uplifting atmosphere — they play a lot of Jorge Drexler. On a sunny day, this cafe is also just a nice place to get a coffee and take a stroll to enjoy the gorgeous city views that The Highline offers. For dog lovers the building has a resident pup, Milton, who politely passes through every now and again. (He is unrelated, but a quirky character that makes the experience special.) Read moreStopped here with a friend just for a coffee and a treat. Really cute little shop. The cappuccino was delicious. Best one ive had in a long time. The blueberry muffin was good too. Moist and dense. Getting here was a bit of effort. Not an easiest location to find if you arent familiar with the area. We parked below near the sly fox brewery and then took the steps by the elevator all the way to the top. It was worth the little walk but i could see ppl missing out on the opportunity to go here bc finding it took a bit of effort. The door to get in was also a bit confusing. The one thay looked like their entrance was locked however it was just an alternate emtrance that had been locked already. We watched a few others struggle with it as well. Maybe better signage could help here? It could have been the date and time we arrived bc i believe the other door we tried may usually be open but wasnt at the time we visited. Great lil coffee...
Read moreOne of the best coffee shops in the city! I came with my Honduran fiancé, having heard about what is now the city’s only Honduran coffee shop. We were so pleased to meet the owner and his sister, both from the same region of Honduras as my fiancé 😄 The coffee and food were excellent, with friendly service, good music, beautiful pictures of Honduran coffee farming, and comfortable indoor & outdoor seating. The Honduran coffee is also bagged for sale. The owner is a coffee expert and does a lot the roasting for De Fer.
Go upstairs to the high line (very slightly off from where it’s marked on Google Maps. Google takes you to the street below) and you’ll find it. Calm location with only foot traffic and a view of the river when you exit...
