  • Update * 🌮 Taco Tuesday Highlight 🌮 I am very pleased to continue giving Gordo's an all around 5 🌟 review. We visited on Tuesday night for Taco Tuesday. At Gordo's the tacos are priced individually and on Tuesdays they are offered at $2 off. Gordo's makes great craft cocktails. I had the Spiked Horchata and my Mom had a Tequila Sunrise. Both were really good. We tried the Taquitos appetizer and they were delicious. For our tacos, we each had three, five different "flavors". Every one was delicious. The Shrimp Pipian and Chicken Verde Mole -these two were the most traditionally Mexican in flavor and style. The Nashville Hot Chicken Taco is a fan favorite and style expertly seasoned and prepared. My Mom really enjoyed the Chorizo and Potato Taco. And our surprise favorite was the flavor-bomb, Roasted Carrot Taco. It is just jam packed with smoky, sweet flavor. It's such a a delicious bite. A visit here is not complete without the excellent Churrolis to cap off the meal. I definitely recommend a visit to Gordo's.

  • Original Review * Gordo's is great! Let me preface this review by saying I love Nashville Hot Chicken but outside of Nashville, TN is has been difficult to find a "hot" chicken that compares to what I've had in Tennessee. Some other places around the Burgh have Nashville Hot Chicken but the spice combinations don't work. At Gordo's the Nashville Hot Chicken Taco is so good with a perfect spice blend. It tastes like hot chicken tacos that I had at Pie Town Tacos in Nashville. Gordo's is the place in Pittsburgh to satisfy your hot chicken craving. Not to mention, their other menu items are delicious too. And they have great margs. My second favorite menu item is the Churoli- A churro and cannoli...

I have visted this restaurant numerous times, and this last experience unfortunately resulted in me not coming back.

The tacos are not bad, however, let's talk price point. I am a taco lover and have eaten tacos at most places in the Burgh. Their tacos are average of 10$ each, and are, at best a 6$ taco based on size.

Price is one thing, and I'll come for atmosphere, however, kitchen service/ support should be ON POINT.

Our server was new. Which was cool. She was still learning. We ordered our food (which was not complicated , basically asked for no cheese due to dairy allergy) and her response was "chef will be annoyed".

However, we were able to place the order. I also placed an order for a chicken taco to go. When she handed me chicken taco and said ingredients I mentioned they forgot lettuce and could she add on side.

She came back with a small container of lettuce and a message from chef Caleb, that "he won't do that again and we should have ordered xyz..." Really? Chef you BIG mad cause you had to put lettuce in a container and hand it off?

Meanwhile the new server didn't know to recommend that as she is new and we didn't know to order that as we didn't make menu.

Obviously this chef has an issue with doing his job and making customers happy. To treat a new server as if she was even scared to ask for what customer wanted is absorb.

To give customer a message is absurb.

I...

I've had decent experiences here before, but this time was sincerely bad. We had one server who was presumably new, because she was sincerely terrible at her job. I mean in the vein of, she struggled with our drink orders, asked to take our order and then said "oh, I didn't think you were ready, I'll have to get my notepad," and then had to be prompted to bring us napkins well after the food had been served. A completely different server saw us drinking and watching TV while still deciding what to eat, and stormed up to our table to demand to know if we were planning to just drink and watch the TV. Again, she was not our server. I don't know what set her off.

Final note, they list a lot of gluten-free options but I don't think the kitchen does a good job separating gluten and gluten-free products, because one of my group has celiac disease and got horrifically sick after eating here in the way they usually do after accidental gluten ingestion. Not the worst experience I've had, but after all that I'm not exactly rushing to...

I wish I'd have gotten the bartender's name because she made this experience amazing. I went exploring, rode the Mon. Incline up and found this restaurant based on reviews. I loved my first visit! I tried the carnitas and barbacoa tacos and they were both amazing and very large, certainly worth the price even though it seems high when you see it on the menu. Before I left, I tried a tequila shot the bartender recommended and it was amazing. I came back with my wife later the same night (for second dinner) and tried the potato/chorizo taco and the roasted carrot taco. They were even better than the first two. Wife got Brisket Quesadilla and it, too, was out of control. Even the dessert was amazing - like a churro meets a cannoli! The food was great, the drinks were amazing, the staff and patrons were all super friendly to me as we visited from out of town. We'll be back to Pittsburgh and when we do, we'll be back to Gordo's! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐A perfect night out!

Walked down to Gordo's after having lunch at Coughlin's Law on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Note to self, self: Be sure to make Gordo's first stop next visit to the Mount. Sitting at the bar watching made from scratch dishes prepared in front of you will tend to sway your mind like that. Even though I had just eaten, my persuasive belly wouldn't let me resist (I'm weak, what can I say), so I ordered the housemade charred tomato salsa side-carred by right-out-of-the-oven tortilla chips. A perfect choice to help wash down my seasonal, fruity Southern Tier drafts. Needless to say, everything was great. Next time, though, I'm coming hungry for tacos and scratch margs, baby. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the house sauces that I generously dosed my chips with in-between salsa scoops. Vuelvo enseguida!
